The cottage is on a good location for seeing Winchester, Stockbridge amd the Army Flying Museum. It could benefit from some redecoration in places but overall it is well equipped and comfortable. It is dog friendly with an enclosed safe garden. The pub in the village is lovely, friendly, pool table and an evening menu.
What an incredible week we had at Brockhurst Cottage number 3. Cooking on the Aga, watching the snow falling outside, wine in front of the fire and walks in the country was just what we needed for some R & R. The cottage is well appointed with everything a family needs and has all the quirks of a quintessential English cottage. Stairs may be a bit tricky for the younger and older guests and if you're into modern then maybe not the place for you! We loved it. Clean towels and bedding, Laundry, TV, Wifi, bathtub, key essentials for our family of five (3 teens). Day trips to Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Winchester, Salisbury. Plenty to do or perhaps just relax and do nothing at all.
We were greeted by our host who had kindly allowed us to deposit our luggage ahead of moving into the cottage.
The cottage itself is cosy and well appointed with an Aga stove in the kitchen that keeps the cottage warm.
It has a small but well kept garden with table and chairs for outside dining if desired. Also parking for two cars.
We took some wonderful trips in the area where many of the villages have thatched cottages.
There is a post office and village shop close by and local pubs within walking distance .
A wonderful experience and great host!!!
This property is lovely, well equipped and has lots of character. We enjoyed time as a family by the fire or around the farm-house style kitchen table. The only areas for improvement would be for the bathroom to be a bit cleaner. Also, the larger of the 2 single beds was on a slight slope (the other one was very narrow), so this room would be better suited to young children. Overall, a great stay and good base to explore the lovely area.
Had a great visit exploring the English Countryside with the whole family. Cottage was so quaint, close to nearby points of interest, and well stocked kitchen supplies.
The house is as listed. We enjoyed the location for fishing, exploring Winchester, and making it into London to catch a match. The efficient kitchen had everything we needed. The only thing I would recommend for those thinking of staying is to put the tall members of your group in the front bedroom as there is a low overhang to the back bedrooms. Be sure to have a meal at George Inn. It was delicious!
Lovely location and cottage. Very comfy beds! Would just recommend a little cleaner, storage in the middle room and although towels were not supplied a hand towel in the bathroom would of been appreciated. Despite this the cottage was beautiful and we had such a fabulous weekend.
Real nice old cottage in a area where there is lots to see. The cottage has all the modern facilities like washing machine and dryer. In a house that is more than 300 years old. Fantastic!! Low ceilings, my son could just stand up, he is 185 cm high. But we loved it.
Family of four adults. We enjoyed are our stay at 3 Brockhurst cottages in Over Wallop. We love anything historical so staying in a 17thC thatched cottage in a village full of similar , beautiful properties (we looked them up on a listed building website) including the church and local pub, was really interesting. We enjoyed cooking on the Braeburn. Checking in and out was very easy and the arrival gift of an apple pie, eggs and milk was lovely.
We enjoyed walks around the village and we visited Danebury hillfort, Stockbridge, Winchester, Fishbourne roman villa,Chichester and East Wittering beach. Everything worked well including the washing machine. The double beds were comfortable but the single bed under the window could do with a replacement mattress (OK for a child but not an adult). As history nerds we would have loved to have known more about the history of the cottage.
Our second visit and as last year, we found the cottage comfortable and well located. Steeped in character, an ideal base for our fishing trip. The White Hart pub, a two minute stroll away, is excellent for well priced food and beer. Many thanks.
Gut geeignet fĂŒr kurze Aufenthalte wegen Besonderheiten wie unebene Betten, Ă€ltere MöbelstĂŒcke, viele Lagen und Decken (schwierig fĂŒr Allergiker) und spezieller KĂŒchenherd.
We visited here from the US and were excited to stay in a thatched roof home. It gave us a flavor of old England. The house was cute and cozy. The little garden was so peaceful and pretty. We learned how to use the Rayburn stove and snuggled in. A great resting place on our journey.
Couldnât have loved this place more! Gorgeous cottage in wonderful location. Facilities are modern and clean and sympathetic to the historic fabric of the building. The stream at the foot of the garden was the bicing on the cake. Lovely walking in the area. Friendly village at the doorstep. Thank you for the privilege of staying at your wonderful property.
Lovely, quirky cottage which ticked our bucket list to stay in a thatched cottage.
However, being two less mobile elderly people we found the uneven floors, low ceilings and steep stairs a challenge.
Perfect mid location for various family members to meet. Great cottage with what we needed, lovely village and walking location. Lovely touch leaving a pie and eggs for us arriving.
