Private house built by our parents on a small, spring fed, private glacier lake

Hexagonal open living and dining area with a fieldstone fireplace and view of a private lake. The lake is family-oriented for water activities with no gas powered engines. Perfect for canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. Beautiful sunrises to the east and sunsets in the west. Country roads for leisurely walks.
Extra sleeping areas in addition to 2 bedrooms with queen-sized bed in each. Small
study with full pullout and living room with queen pullout sofa. Full size washer and dryer. Dishwasher. Gazebo and outdoor picnic tables, grill and fire pit.
Vespers is a tradition over 100 years old takes place on Sunday evenings as cottagers join in their boats at the buoy in the center of the lake for a non ecumenical Service sharing thoughts, hymns and a time of meditation.
Quiet lake with consideration for neighbors, noise curfew at dark.
If you are interested in fishing, go to www.huntfish.pa.gov to obtain a fishing license on line or you may purchase a license at the local store, Preston Country Market.
The property is about 3 hours from New York City , Philadelphia and Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Elk Mountain Ski Resort is about 20 miles away. Greek Peak Ski Resort is 76 miles away. Montage Mountain Ski Resort, Stadium and the Pavilion at Montage is 53 mile away and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts for concerts is about 42 miles away. Honesdale , PA is a quaint rural town with lots of shopping and concerts in the park during the summer months. Then you get to return to the house and relax by the lake, which is beautiful and remarkable in any season.

Loved our stay!!

Such a lovely home. We had a wonderful time at this lake house. The lake was beautiful, the neighbors were friendly, and there were plenty of amenities. We fished, canoed, grilled, used the fire, etc. we did it all and had a great time. Would love to stay here again!

Relaxing

Perfect lake front home, beautiful fireplace and wood stove, kayaks, canoe and row boat. Very quiet lake. We had a workation, we live in manhattan and work remotely. It was a very nice experience waking up to the peaceful setting. We will likely return to this beautiful area for the fall folliage.

Always a great stay!

This was our third summer staying here and we love it. The lake is beautiful and we love kayaking and canoeing. This year they added a new dock to get out which was really nice and a floating dock where we swam. It’s so very peaceful there. There is a Arrigan Farm down the road for produce and Delaware Delicacies about 20 minutes away for smoked salmon, trout and duck. It’s a great place to find relaxation. The property has air hockey and foos ball for rainy days and picnic tables, a hammock, porch swing and a fire pit. It has everything you need for time at the lake!

Even better than expected!

What a lovely cottage this was! Beautiful flowers all around, amazing views, well appointed and comfortable! There isn’t much around but plenty to do at the property and we could have enjoyed a few more days! Spending time on the lake by boat was a highlight. When the forecast says rain it seemed to only be intermittent. Comfortable beds and nice rooms and bathrooms. It was perfect for my 82 yr old father being on one level and with walk-in showers (which he said he loved the rain shower heads). Thanks so much for the special flowers in every room- what a wonderful welcome to the home.

My sisters and their daughters and one grandchild stayed at the lake house for two nights, over the July 4th holiday weekend when my son got married at our house about 10 miles from Shehawken Lake. They were perfectly comfortable, and loved the house which was beautiful and clean. They swam and kayaked during the mornings before our rehearsal dinner and wedding the next day. They loved the house and the hosts were generous and communicative. They would definitely stay there again in the future.

Perfect getaway for my family

Our stay at Shehawken lake was ideal. The house and location were wonderful. We enjoyed our time together in this cozy relaxing and unwinding by the fire. The kids enjoyed the property and had a fun time playing games in the garage and lounging at the house. The view is amazing, the bedrooms/bathrooms were perfect for our family and the kitchen had everything we needed. Thank you for allowing us to stay and experience the lake and surrounding area!

Relaxing and refreshing

If you need a place to relax, to decompress, to reconnect with nature, this place is for you! We enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, walking, observing the wildlife, watching the sunrises and different images the lake takes on and the amazing living room fireplace. We saw more stars in the nighttime sky than ever in our lives. We enjoyed the solitude, the quiet, and having the lake virtually all to ourselves. Judie is an unbelievably gracious host. The place is very clean; we even had fresh flowers in every room upon our arrival. We will plan to be back here; this place is indeed magical!

This place is a gem!

It was our second visit here. This property has everything you need for a quiet, peaceful getaway. We had a wonderful time with our family four in and on the water. It’s a restful place with lots of entertainment on the property like air hockey, foos ball, basketball, croquet. A perfectly placed hammock, plenty of kitchen supplies, and a great fire pit. We love this place!

Beautiful home and lake

The home is beautiful and very clean. The views are amazing. We enjoyed using the home's kyacks to paddle around the very calm lake. The outdoor pavillion was great for eating meals and playing game. Beautiful Lakeside Cottage

Our week at this lovely lakeside home was a quiet restful escape. We loved the layout of the home, and it had everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable: privacy, all the various kitchen items, games, fire pit and kayaks. Lakeside retreat

We had the best time! The house has everything you could possibly need for a great weekend. We fished off the side of a canoe, caught a lily pad, kayaked, swam and ended the night with an air hockey tournament. Seriously something for everyone. We can’t wait to come back.

Very Nice Getaway

Judie and Bruce have a very nice home on the lake in a very nice part of Pennsylvania. We enjoyed our stay, short, but sweet. The home was lovely and the lake is very quaint and picturesque. I really appreciated their kind offers to walk their property (farm meadows) and also enjoyed the wildlife that came to visit (beaver, deer, bald eagles, turkey vultures, hummingbirds, and some goo size sunfish, small mouth bass and pickerel just off the dock, etc). We love animals and had a wonderful time viewing all the country critters. Thank you both for you kind hospitality.

Great Place to Stay

Judie was so kind. The view of the lake was excellent. Such a relaxing vacation. Watching the geese, otters and other wild life was awesome! Swinging in the hammock was the best could not have found a better lakehouse! We would absolutely recommend tbis lovely cottage!
