Sarah was a great host whit the planning and the welcoming. The place is well situated walking distance to the bakery and restaurants. What a beautiful place !
Extraodinary place with an amazing view, great location away from the busiest cities and incredible support from Panos to show us around, help us rent ATVs and UTVs, organized a day on the sea.
The host was super helpful and friendly and much appreciated. Santorini is a wonderful place, there were nice shops and cafes nearby. But the acoustics made sleeping impossible, any cough or door opening echoed throughout the place like a concert hall. I was also not prepared for the barking dogs, meowing cats and crowing roosters all night long. There was so little hot water that only one or two people got hot showers per night.
We loved the Winery Estate for our annual "sisters vacation". Megalochori is more relaxed than other towns, which was just what we wanted. The pool, which got lots of use, was always clean. The house was so comfortable and inviting after a long day of sightseeing. We enjoyed the sbort walk to the bakery/grocery everyday. Our host was always very pleasant and helpful. We had a wonderful and memorable experience at the Winery Estate and would highly recommend.
How luck are we - was our consistent refrain during our stay. The villa was gorgeous and much larger than we pictured. The property is well maintained and being close to horses and mules added to the magic of our stay. The only downside was we had to request housing to come at least every other day to empty our trashcans. Since you cannot flush TP this was something we needed. We also had to request the pool cleaners a few times. These were small issues and overall one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The host and house manager were lovely. The house manager stocked our fridge prior to arrival so we had yummy snacks and water the moment we arrived. If you need a fabulous villa in Megalochori this is the spot!
This spacious and beautiful villa was the perfect spot for my husband and me, our adult children and partners as well as my sister and husband. It is renovated in a spectacular manner and no effort was spared to make it appealing and comfortable.
Sarah the owner was full of information and responsive to any question or need. She and Petros arranged a yacht trip for all of us, initiated as a surprise for my husband and me by our children. It was glorious. The south end of the island is every bit as stunning as is Fira and Oia.
Petros took very good care of every need during the week and he was a wealth of information about the island. On his recommendation, of our group walked up the hill to Pyrgos to see the sunrise. One of our daughters ran every morning to a new place and was so pleased by the variety of landscape afforded her. We all enjoyed the restaurants in Megalachori, the bakery was fabulous and one of the restaurants was a perfect spot for morning coffee.
The pool was always sparkling clean and each of us enjoyed having a dip sometime during each day.
Some of our party did the walk from Fira to Oia and raved about the experience. Two of them even walked back to Fira!
We loved Persia beach, swimming and snorkeling there.
Panos the driver was available any time we asked for his services. He was prompt and very professional.
Thank you to all who contributed to a wonderful week away in the glorious Santorini sun.
A family of 11, we loved our week. The Villa was very pretty and in a less busy area, walking distance to the cute town of Megalochori.
The host and villa manager were very helpful before and during the trip and gave great suggestions. Particularly some of the restaurants.
All of the rooms were very cute and the pool was great to have.
We enjoyed sailing, the archeological site in Akrotiri, sunset at the heart of santorini, a nearby winery and some of the beaches. A magical week!
We were extended family staying in Santorini for a family wedding. The Villa was beautiful and has been sympathetically restored. As it is an old winery it is amazingly cool in the heat of the day. The Villa has everything you need and I love the way they donât skimp on anything. The Villa owner Sarah was so helpful in advance & also her manager Pedros was always on hand for queries. Sarah arranged for her driver Panos to pick us up from the airport and then he made himself available to take us everywhere all week. He was a star!
Loved the property and the privacy the rooms offered
Located near a lovely little village which some great restaurants
We preferred to eat there than in Fira
The property is a special place and the owners did such a wonderful job in keeping some of the old winery intact and included in the decor. There are several steep stairs to climb to enter the house which was fine for us but may be an issue for some with mobility challenges. As this is a cave home it can get a bit loud inside (acoustics) when everyone is laughing, playing games but Iâm not sure how this could be softened some.
The home was well stocked and located in a small town away from the really busy part of the island which we all appreciated. We got to see chickens, roosters, cats, donkeys, horses and even homing pigeons pretty much every day which added to the uniqueness of the property.
You will need a car if you plan to explore the island and you should! There is so much to see!
Sarah was very quick to respond to our questions and anything we needed and we appreciated her recommendations on restaurants. We also used her recommendation of a local driver Panos to do a day tour and he was wonderful! Fantastic stay overall and would certainly recommend booking here for a family or group! Thank you for your hospitality and allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
Despite some very unseasonal weather for May - rain and cold wind - we have had a fantastic week and we were sad to leave.
The room above the kitchen is great for children (not toddlers) but not really suitable for adults as there is little floor or hanging space and access is by a fairly steep spiral staircase.
Petros the property manager was exceptional in his care and going the extra mile for us.
One of our party needed medical attention during the week and Petrosâs help was invaluable. We are truly grateful and quite frankly, donât know what we would have done without him!
With Petrosâs support we were still able to have a fantastic stay in The Winery Estate.
Would recommend!
My wife and I had our wedding ceremony on a catamaran in Santorini, and used this wonderful estate as housing for us and our guests. The property is wonderfully renovated and dreamy. I highly recommend it for a large/ multi family.
Lots of outside space, comfortable beds and Sarah is superb. Some appliances and bathrooms could do with updating but when we had an issue with the dishwasher it was replaced the next day
From booking this villa the owner sarah was unbelievably helpful.
Me and my now wife got married in Santronini booked for 10 days, sarah arranged transfers car hire a chef for a family BBQ.
sarah had the villa next door and was always there if I needed anything. She went beyond her duties as a host and I will definitely be using sarah again.
Thank you from us all x
Sarah was extremely helpful in the run up to our trip and organised the car hire, which was essential for exploring the island, as well as the taxi to / from the airport.
The house itself is large, with lovely views and outside areas for relaxing. The five bedrooms are all well appointed, although we didn't use the separate one by the pool, which is pretty much self-contained. UK Netflix was an added bonus for the children, who also slept in the platform bedroom above the kitchen, which they loved as it was like a tree house.
The kitchen had lots of equipment so cooking was easy.
Others have noted the steps up to the property, which were no problem for us, and the driveway is steep and narrow, which I imagine could intimidate some.
Having the village and the bakery a short walk away was great, and we ate out three times in Megalochori at different places - all excellent.
In short, it's a great place to spend time, but also a convenient central location to explore the island, from Perissa black sand beach in the south to Oia in the north. It's in a 'real' bit of Santorini, with locals living around, as well as donkeys, horses and mules to pet and feed next door! I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Our stay at the winery was excellent from start to finish, Sarah is a great host she sent a taxi to pick us up from the airport and drop us off again free of charge. She arranged car hire to be dropped off at the villa the next day which we found very useful. The villa itself is fantastic the option to take a dip in the pool everyday was great. The villa is minutes walk away from a bakery and the village square which has an array of tavernas and local shops. Overall we had a blast and would definitely come back.
A huge, stunning cave house. Beautifully appointed. Everything you need. Lovely pool. Great location on the edge of the gorgeous, quiet village of Megalochori with its amazing bakery & handful of restaurants & bars. Fira a 15min drive away. Oia 30 mins. Stunning island. Sarah really friendly, helpful, knowledgable, great communication, fast response. Mark too! We had a great time- we thoroughly recommend.
Very beautiful house in 5â walking distance to the lovely heart of Megalochori.
Swimmingpool and roof were nice to use everyday. Renting a car is a clever option to visit all hotspots on the island.
Staff/ owner of the house was around and always friendly and helpful.
See you next time.
We arrived after a long journey to this amazing home in the middle of town very close and in walking distances to the adorable town with small shops and fabulous restaurants. We were greeted by a driver named Yanni who picked us up and brought us to a hotel the night before our stay in your home started. He again picked my husband and I up and the next morning to bring us to the winery estate. Mark the house manager greeted us and went over all the details of what we needed and showed us a refrigerator full of snacks, fruits and drinks after out long journey. The house was definitely the Grecian Experience filled will beautiful decor, cave like ceilings throughout, outdoor views and a refreshing pool for our relaxing enjoyment through your stay. Mark was attentive to problems that occurred with an electrical issue and was always very gracious and helpful.
I rented this home with my husband and seven friends who tagged along my trip while I enjoyed my oldest daughterâs wedding at a local winery. By the end of the week Mark felt like family. My only problem with the whole experience was the local cat population that multiplied due to the a few of my friends would feed them. They became slightly more aggressive trying to get into the property. My advice would be not to feed the animals.. unless you want Company your entire week every time you venture out to the beautiful outdoor space. I was told that the cats were being relocated so maybe that will not occur in the future.
We rented a vehicle with the help of Mark which is the best thing to do to explore the whole island. I would take a take the opportunity to take the walk from Fira to Oia, my friends raves about their experience. I would go to Perrisa beaches to swim, horse back ride along them, rent a yacht or catamaran for an evening cruise if you are interested in the full experience. Everyone was warm and welcoming wherever you went. The winery estate was a fabulous place to come home to at the end of the day to relax at the pool and then walk to the town for dinner.
I could go on and on. Thanks you Sarah it was an amazing experience in your home, we will return.
We stayed at the Winery Estate for one week at the end of August as a group of 8 adults and 4 children (ranging from under 2 to 14 years old)
Transfers to and from the airport were included and went off without a hitch, so easy, on time and the air con was welcome in the heat!
Arriving to the villa itself, the pictures donât do the grandeur of the property justice⊠Itâs been restored beautifully and all the rooms are clean and comfortable â As a large group we had more than enough room and never felt like we were on top of one another⊠The outdoor dining tables are great and meant we could all come together at dinner time. (Some of the best nights we had were all spent together on the terrace!)
There is a self-contained double room next to the pool which is gorgeous and such a love nest for a couple⊠It was perfect for us to have our own space away from the main villa as we were here to celebrate our wedding.
The walk into Megalochori is easy and pram friendly â Every night, even if we chose not to eat out, we would still walk down after dinner to the square for an ice cream.
Megalochori itself has everything you could need - We did hire a car for a supermarket run which would be necessary if youâre looking to be self-catering and not eat out all of the time. Sarah arranged the car for us so we didnât even need to think about this when we arrived! The car was dropped off and picked up with no issues - The choice of restaurants in Megalochori and the few bars are plenty if youâre wanting to stay in a more quiet area of Santorini.
Itâs a beautiful little town with all the blue domes, churches and winding streets you associate with Santorini â There are some stunning views as you walk into the town from the villa.
Through the whole booking process Sarah was fantastic and quick to reply to any queries I had, we arranged a car seat, high chair and travel cot for the baby and of course it was all at the villa when we arrived with no problems. Mark the villa manager in Santorini was equally as helpful and ran through everything with us when we arrived and came a couple of times during our stay to check in and confirm pick up of the hire car etc.
It was perfect for our large group and really felt like a special property. From start to finish it was fantastic and weâre already wanting to book to come back to Santorini â Even just as a couple we will definitely be taking a look at Sarahâs other properties on HomeAway.

We loved the house, the pool, the neighborhood, and the entire experience of Santorini. If you want to have a vacation away from the chaos of tourists and cruise ships, stay at this little gem of a house. It was heaven, and so was the neighborhood. Love, love, love! Donât get sucked in by the flash of the tourist spots. You can still see those places and then escape back to the winery. I give this property my highest recommendation.
Gorgeous villa, everything that you could possibly need. Great communication from the owner. Mark the manager was great, nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend
The property was pretty much as described, however, one of our party was somewhat immobile and found the steps and terrain most difficult. Perhaps a note to this effect would be useful. Otherwise hard to fault.

From start to finish we canât fault the contact with Sarah beforehand and the whole experience at the villa in general.
Mark was friendly and full of advice and information to ensure that our stay here was as good as could be. Leslie was also lovely and polite.
We were completely blown away by the villa when we arrived, the pictures really do not do it justice. The location was fantastic for us being central to all key locations - but you must get a car!
A few recommendations from our experiences:
- Oia; Fanari restaurant has amazing food and a great view for sunset
- Fira; Classico is a lovely restaurant and a great view and also PK cocktails for amazing drinks
- Megalochori; do not be afraid to try out the local restaurants. The food is incredible in the villa (Avlogyros & Marmita)
- Waves Chill out bar at Perissa Beach is a lovely place to relax
- Take the boat trip to the volcano island, hot springs, Thirassia village too (the sea is very cold in April)
- Ancient Thira ruins is absolutely beautiful and a great walk and amazing views over the whole of Santorini
- Santos Winery Vineyard is amazing - we had the 10 flight wine for âŹ35 each
YOU MUST GO TO THE FAMILY BAKERY. It is amazing, Pavlos is awesome and the chocolate, Gelato and pastries are great.
We have had a lovely stay and would highly recommend the Winery estate to families or groups of friends. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as us.
