The river's edge in Allagash

Located at the confluence of the St John and Allagash rivers , the River's edge in Allagash offers all the comforts of home. The North Maine Woods is minutes away whether you are here to hunt, fish or just enjoy the beauty of the true northern Maine. Hiking trails are a short drive from town in the Deboulie area. For snowmobilers we are located near ITS 92. Unwind at the end of the day with a breathtaking view of the sunset over the St. John Valley.

Our family had an excellent time in Allegash. Louie was a great host who communicated well and took care of any questions we had during our stay including some tips on where to fish. The house was super clean, very comfortable, and was stocked with everything we needed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The locals also had tips on where and when to see wildlife. We saw a lot of moose, 2 bears and a red fox. This place checked all the boxes; it's a great escape from the busyness of life. Oh, and if you stay here, make sure to hit 2 Rivers Lunch! It's a fantastic old fashioned cafe! Thanks Louie! We'll cherish memories of this vacation!

I would give 6 stars if I could!

This is a beautiful home in a great location with unbelievable views! It is the cleanest and most well appointed home we have ever visited. It felt like home from the time we walked in, and it’s so evident the owners go the extra mile to make this place so special. Louie and Josie were communicative about check in and responsive to any questions we had. Couldn’t have asked for more and still feel lucky to have spent the week here with my family. We were all sad to leave! We ventured into Fort Kent (roughly 35 mins) a couple of times and really enjoyed it. We also ate lunch at Two Rivers Lunch right up the street from the house and had a wonderful experience. The house is very close to several North Maine Woods gates, as well as a well-stocked gas station. Lastly, I want to share that all of the locals we met could not have been kinder. Folks stop to speak in stores, say “hello” at gas stations and wave going down the roads. My advice is to smile and say hello and enjoy your visit and getting to know this special place and people that keep it running!

Great place to relax

Very clean and nicely kept. Owners very helpful. Nice and quiet once the nearby road repairs were finished. Spent many hours on the deck listening to the St. John river. Very pretty sunsets almost every night. Would love to return.

Great taste of Northern Maine

We had a great stay. Beautiful location. Very well stocked and updated home. All members of our party remarked on how satisfying our trip in Josie and Louie’s riverside cottage was. Any issues we had were attended to promptly and resolved quickly. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience!

The area was so beautiful and remote. The house sat perfectly next to the Allagash River. We enjoyed all the sight and sounds while sitting on the back deck watching the sunrise and drinking coffee. Roasted hotdogs in the fire pit with the provided wood. The house was was roomy and provided a great atmosphere. It was also filled with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The hosts had everything in order for us and could be easily reached. I would love to come back again and highly recommend this place if you’re looking to escape to the remote wilderness of Maine. Just want to say thank you to our hosts for sharing their awesome place with us!

Great neck of the woods

The four of us had just a wonderful time. This location is just fantastic--such amazing beauty. watching deer cross the stream around sunset is about as picturesque as it gets. you really feel like you have gotten away from things when you get here.

You will never have a better view

Fantastic place to transition back to real world after a long water trip. The view takes your breath away. The house is cozy, clean, and had absolutely everything we needed. We loved our stay and did not want to leave. Do bring your own groceries though. But Jake’s Break, when open, is a roadside shack with great food.

Amazing location, home away from home.

Great proximity to the Allagash! The house is very clean and other than a few things missing in the kitchen, it was great. We were glad we brought most of our meals, there aren't many choices to eat depending on the day and times. Casual dining at Jake's, but we didn't realize they close at 8 and open Thurs-Sun. Two River's Luncheonette, looked great, but our timing was off for lunch. Bring food, it was so nice to grill and eat on the deck. Other than the logging trucks, it was very peaceful. Locals are very very nice, and respect for their way of life and logging is an integral source of income. Thank-you Louie and Josie!!

Excellent Destination, one of the Best Stays

We four of us , me , my husband and other couple friends has visited this place. The house is beautiful :) Backyard deck opens up to a great river view where we grilled and enjoyed sunsets by the fireplace.. it was divine. House is cozy and comfortable and we could get in touch with Owners almost instantly, when we had any questions. House had everything a break and breakfast should have! Allagash is a cute little town with very warm people. We enjoyed starry nights a lot. Maybe its very normal for people in Maine to view milky way with naked eyes, but that was prettty amazing to us. ALL IN ALL , a very good experience and value for moeny. Thanks Josie and Louie!

Love the view

If you love watching sunsets, morning dew and animals crossing the river you need to sit on this amazing deck. The house was very, very clean and had everything you needed. It was just like being at home lots of rooms and on the second floor has a bathroom sweet, has A/C upstairs, very close to the Allagash river and St. John river as we floated down the Allagash in our kayaks just to the mouth of St, John . I would recommend this place to just relax and have fun. Thank you Josie and Louie

Perfect place to stat

We were on a moose hunt- and this couldn’t have been more perfect for us. The house reaked of cleanliness as we walked in. One of our friends (germaphobe) actually said he touched all the tops of the fans, looked under the beds, checked the shower and said it was beyond clean. We were able to get right in, and everything was just perfect. Thank you so much! Will be back for sure!!

Excellent Allagash property

GREAT!! The property is well maintained, very clean and located in a wonderful spot that gives you access to the North Woods and lots of other recreation and peace filled activities. I will remember it for future use and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to GET AWAY from it ALL.
