Fully furnished holiday home with stunning views

  • Vivenda Xavier is situated at the little fisherman village named Porto Formoso, (the marvellous port). Just about 3 minutes from the vivenda you'l find is the local beach Praia dos Moinhos. A very particular small beach with outstanding sanitary facilities. Not far away you may enjoy a good cup of tea at Chá de Porto Formoso. One of the two old family business in Europe involved in tea production. This, all fashioned with the little fisherman port and the local church from 1509, turns this little place into a unique spot in Europe. The inhabitants make their living today predominantly from agriculture, cattle breeding, and fishing.

Eine tolles Häuschen, ganz für dich allein. Frühstück mit Blick aufs Meer auf der Terrasse, toller Strand in Gehweite, Restaurant am Strand und Wasserfall in traumhafter Schlucht gegenüber. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und empfehlen diese Unterkunft gerne weiter. Die Lage ist exzellent, um alle Orte der Insel kennenzulernen.

Truly lovely house with beautiful views high above the sea. House has everything you need and is centrally located on the island. The sleepy town is exactly what we wanted and since nothing is too far on this island with good roads and clear signage , we had no trouble exploring all parts of the island.Luis is a great host who’s communication is excellent.

The house is exactly as shown and caters well for a longer term stay. It has all necessary amenities and it is a great place to come home to after a day of exploring. The owner was in constant contact and left us helpful suggestions and tips to make our trip more enjoyable. We highly recommend.

Amazing property and Host

We were a group of 4 senior adults and were looking for a quiet, comfortable location to end our Portugal trip. This spot was perfect! From the host guiding us in by phone when we got turned around, to the pleasant housekeeper who met us at the property to check in to the spectacular views of the ocean and perfectly stocked home, our stay could not have been better. With 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms plus generous sized living and dining areas (including a cool outdoor kitchen), there was plenty of room for us to be very comfortable. Porto Formosa is a tiny village so if you are looking for nightlife this is not the spot for you. We cooked for ourselves here and had everything we needed with groceries just a short 15 minute car ride away. We found this to be a good central location to explore the island from as well. You can easily walk down to the public beach (coming back up is a great workout!) and there is access to public trails close by. We cannot recommend this property enough! 5 stars!

Perfectly Appointed

The house is within minutes of walking to a beautiful beach, multiple restaurants, and a great hike with a waterfall close by. The house is immaculate and perfectly appointed with everything you could need, including great coffee! We found that the owner had provided many things that helped us enjoy our stay… coolers, backpacks, beach umbrellas, plenty of premade ice, lots of clean towels. All the little things that we couldn’t travel with but needed for enjoying the island. The view from the balcony is amazing and the sound of the waves on the beach at night afforded the best nights sleep I’ve ever had! We’ll be back!

Great vacation

We had a wonderful vacation. The house was very comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. The location is excellent for travelling around the island, and the local beach is a 10 minute walk away. The owner was very helpful, with a good binder available for suggestions of activities. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone staying on San Miguel.

Very well equipped and great host

Very scenic location on the north coast provided great central hub for touring the island. The house was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Nearby restaurants were excellent and reasonably priced. Luis was easy to contact and offered great advice.. We had a great week even though the weather didn't fully cooperate.

We had a truly lovely time at Luis's place. Our kids loved it and we appreciated the baby gates, high chairs, and pack and play. The views of the ocean, and cows on a hillside, from the outdoor dining table were sublime. As others have noted, Luis is a top-of-the-line host who pays a ton of attention and wants to make sure you have a stellar stay.

Porto Formoso stay

Our host was terrific, not only in ensuring the property was wonderful, but also in helping with recommendations in the area. We loved being away from Ponta Delgarda, but still just a short drive to anywhere on the island. The beach is great. You will not regret booking this property.

Living the dream

We stayed for 3 nights, wished we had a week at Vivienda Xavier. We loved the property, amenities, and location. We fully enjoyed the sound of the ocean & waterfall from the patio in the morning & evenings, and the activities on the island, as well as the quaint beach and trail with waterfall within walking distance. We are already talking about returning with additional family to enjoy the island and the property. We absolutely loved our time, and Luis was a great, very communicative host.
