We booked the Cerny Slon just two days before arriving, in the middle of the pandemic when tourism was almost completely shut down. The rates were so very affordable that we were frankly shocked when we realized how lovely and full of charm the hotel is, and how incredibly well located. It's literally squarely in the middle of the most beautiful urban area I have ever seen, with dramatic ancient churches and small cobblestoned streets so close we felt we could reach our arms out of our windows and touch them. The room had beautifully painted high ceilings, and the bathroom was large and well-appointed. The management treated us with extraordinary sweetness and grace, preparing full and delicious meals for us on an accommodating schedule, even though it seemed we were one of only just a very few guests staying (amid the pandemic lockdown.) The concierge, Lucas, was friendly, warm, and knowledgeable, pointing us toward useful destinations with wit and insight, but all the staff were uniformly wonderful. The only slight reservation we might have about our experience is that the internet was fairly slow. We have vowed to return after the pandemic to stay at this wonderful old hotel and explore more of what Prague has to offer.
