room was alright and as on the photos, but noisy and busy/crowded around the clock, (mixed) bathroom was below expectations and disappointing. Probably good place to stay if you want to meet new people, but would not recommend if you want to relax.

Hi Verena,It is our busy season up here and we do offer a backpacker environment to make it easy to meet others and socialise. The hostel is full most nights so yes, there is a bit of noise going on during the day. But we do ensure the hostel is settled at 10pm so we can all get a good nights sleep.We're sorry to hear you thought our bathrooms were disappointing though - if you have further feedback on this we'd love to hear it so we can look at what we might improve?Wishing you all the best for your continued travels

First time staying in a backpackers motel. Although we got a room with an ensuite, the atmosphere being around other people was fun facilities were good and close to everything in the township. Only thing was the parking is limited based on a first come first serve basis which was ok with us.

Comfy beds. Quiet considering it is next to the fire department. Kitchen could use a little work or at least people could clean up after themselves (maybe this is just the old person in me). 😀. Bathrooms all in good shape and clean.

Studio was prefect size, plenty of room. Walkable to everything in Paihia. Really happy with our stay!

Would only recommend to people under 25 / hardly got any sleep as walls are paper thin - might as well of been a curtain, noisy people in other rooms till 1.30am Facilities were not maintained very well & had to wait at least an hour or so each night to cook or get a table - tip do that at 5pm. Stayed at a number of lodges & caravan parks while in NZ, none were like this one. Lucky it was our first stay on our trip & would rate it as our worst experience in over a months travelling.

Customer Service Excellent.
The best service from a human I have experienced at a hostel. She was great. Only had 2 toilets and showers, which is not enough (one toilet was out of service.) room was only 5 beds which is very nice. Great location.

Our room was pretty dated and small but had everything you needed. Lovely fluffy towels and soap supplied. No toilet paper in the communal bathroom. Kitchen area is really spacious and well stocked. Lots of fridge space and well set out.

Nach der Bestätigung durch Expedia bekam ich am Übernachtungstag die Absage von der Unterkunft. Dennoch wurde die Gebühr durch Expedia fällig!

We did attempt to get in touch with you as soon as we realised this, and throughout the morning of your booking. We also secured a studio room for you at another motel here in Paihia so that you would have a room for your stay.You had already paid Expedia directly when you made your booking, so they would have charged your account that night automatically, not knowing anything was wrong. Once we had confirmation that you would not be staying in the alternative accommodation we had arranged for you, we were in touch with Expedia straight away to ensure you were not left out of pocket, and I trust that you will receive your refund from them in the coming days.Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and wish you all the best,The Team at Centabay Lodge

Super schöne Lage, alles sehr offen und man hat auch draußen die Möglichkeit, sich zum Essen hinzusetzen. Das Personal war super nett und ansonsten auch alles sauber. Das Einzige, im Dorm (in meinem Fall Schlsfzimmer für 5 Personen) hat man wenig Stauraum. Ansonsten aber sehr zu empfehlen

Thought there may have been housekeeping at least once during our stay, but for 52.50 per night can't complain. Friendly staff including flooffy doggy, enjoyed the hammocks (not to mention having to get helped and heaved out of it) Just found that with 2 people it got a bit cramped in the private room after four nights, but if you're travelling alone, or there for a shorter stay would recommend.
