'My wife and I had a great experience staying at the Sundrift last week. It was our first time visiting the Destin / Fort Walton area of Florida, so we didn’t fully know what to expect, but the location of this hotel was perfect- right on the beach. It was a quieter beach than other hotels / resorts in the area, so we enjoyed the peace and quiet at this particular location. There also was a really good pizza place in between the hotel and beach, so that was convenient for a quick lunch on the...

'The property was located right on the beach with beautiful swimming pools between the property and the beach. It was decorated with beautiful palm trees and the balcony overlooked the pools and the beach. The room was tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable with a big screen tv at the foot of the bed. WiFi was available. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels and wash cloths. The service people were very nice and accommodating. Having the Manatee restraint on the property was...

'Overall, we had a good experience at The Island Resort and I would stay here again. It’s a really cool and unique property with a lot of potential, and the location is excellent. You’re right on the beach, which is definitely the biggest perk.
Our room was very clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the pools and beach access. The drinks from the bars were good, and the pizza was surprisingly good as well.
There were, however, several things that kept this from being a 4- or 5-star experience....

'Pros: The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable and had a microwave and mini fridge. Hotel was peaceful and not noisy. Swimming pool was really nice with a gradual walk-in and was shallow on that end, which was really nice for small children. There was a nice walkway right down to the beach. Lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance.
Breakfast was great with both hot and cold options (eggs, meat, cereal, muffins, bagels, oatmeal, etc.).
Con: There are...

'Room and halls need cleaning and repair. The balcony was very dirty and was mold, as were the lawn chairs on the balcony. The ceiling was peeling and coming down especially in the shower area. The person at the front desk the next morning was watching a show on her cell phone with no headphones…. Was loud for 6:30 a.m. eating breakfast. She never once looked up to greet anyone.'
