'Fantastic stay at La Basilica Quito. Great location with good security, very friendly owners and staff. English spoken. Very clean and nice rooms, comfortable beds and bathroom with all amenities. Some of the rooms are located in-house, which makes them a bit stuffy due to lack of ventilation, but this is minor. Right in the hart of Old Quito at 5 minutes walk from historic square with cathedral, museums, presidential palace, and also the National Basilica. '

'Staff were friendly and genuinely seemed like they wanted us to enjoy our stay, but as soon as I walked in to the bathroom, I saw black mold. I am glad we were only there for about 10 hours. The location was not great, very noisy all night, we barely slept, and did not seem like the safest place to go out at night. There were 3 or 4 locks on the door. We left too early for breakfast. The beds were fairly comfortable. It’s the black mold that did it for us. Gross.'

He made sure I had everything I needed. He even booked a tour for me and another guest in which he took the time to be our guide and driver. Great stay! Thank you Hernan!'

'Perfectly located right in the heart of Quito on Independence Plaza, yet very private and quiet. In a classic older building, so beautifully finished and wonderfully furnished. Rooms are luxurious, spacious and very comfortable. I stayed twice, and each room was fantastic. Just steps away are great restaurants, the grand cathedrals, shopping, and the vibrant street scene Quito is famous for. But above and beyond the facility, is the amazing staff! No one could be more gracious, friendly, helpful...

'Hotel was like a jig saw puzzle with lots of stairways and areas. Still had construction going on. Rooms were very nice but no privacy unless you close your curtains. Room safes did not work in either of our rooms. You cannot flush toilet paper due to old pipes. Area did not feel very safe but we did not need to leave the hotel without a guide since the dining in the hotel was great. Overall I would recommend this hotel. '

'Hoewel een kort verblijf van 2 nachten, een prima tijd gehad in het in historische centrum zeer centraal gelegen hotel. Ook van het straatverkeer geen last, mede omdat de straat relatief smal is. Bijzonder was dat die Zondag verplicht binnenblijven was vanwege de census( volkstelling) Uitsluitend militairen en politie op straat. Echter met het fijne hotel en de goede maaltijden was het niet echt rampzalig. Ook was het bijzonder dat het hele land vanaf vrijdagmiddag tot maandagmiddag drooggelegd...

'A very comfortable well maintained historic hotel in a perfect location only steps away from independence plaza. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. A tip: get them to organise your airport transfer for US $30 (pay them directly). Breakfast was good with choices.'
