The Ballroom at Cutthorne

The Ballroom is a first floor 2 bedroom cottage accessed from its own private hall from the farm yard. It offers an open plan kitchen/dining area with separate sitting room with open log fire. It has a sun terrace with table and chairs facing west. It is one of a pair of cottages set in an ancient cobbled yard of an 18 Century farm. The cottages were converted to a very high standard in the mid 1980s and have been continually modernised by the current owners. Offering a haven from everyday life with extensive grounds, private gardens/terrace and a warm friendly environment to unwind. There are 2 bedrooms in twin and double configuration, combined dining/kitchen areas and a bathroom. Up to 2 dogs are welcome for a supplementary payment of £25 per booking.

Half term break

First impressions of the property was that it was lovely and warm, well appointed, nice decor and very comfortable beds. Due to horrific traffic we arrived considerably later than hoped, Chris and Freya were very accommodating. The kitchen was perfect for self catering, the log burner a treat and loads of hot water, perfect for a soak in the bath after a long days walking in the moor. I cannot fault any aspect of our stay. We stayed for 6 nights, but wished it was longer. Thank you Chris and Freya for a truly relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable half term break. cottage is lovely

Eine wunderbare Reise in die Vergangenheit

Wir haben im Juli 2023 eine traumhafte Woche im Ballsaal in Cutthorne verbracht. Das Cottage liegt im Herzen des Exmoors umgeben von Wiesen, Hecken, Bäumen und Heide. Natur soweit das Auge sehen kann und absolute Ruhe - eine unverbaute Kulturlandschaft, von der wir gedacht haben, dass es so etwas gar nicht mehr gibt. Wir hatten das Gefühl, in Tolkiens Auenland gelandet zu sein..... Die Wohnung ist liebevoll, stilvoll und hochwertig eingerichtet - es fehlt nichts. Chris und Freya sind großartige Gastgeber. Sie sind zurückhaltend und trotzdem jederzeit hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich und sorgen dafür, dass man sich rundum wohl fühlen kann. Wir können die Wohnung von ganzem Herzen empfehlen und würden dort gerne nochmal Urlaub machen!

Fabulous stay at The Ballroom, with great hosts Chris and Freya

Wonderful location, and the accommodation is even lovelier IRL, with beautiful views from all the rooms. Fabulously peaceful, and it was so nice to walk around in the beautiful surroundings from the front door. We loved the home-grown veg box too, and although it was too hot this August to use the log burner, it's still a great feature in the sitting room.

Relaxing hide away

The ballroom barn is perfect for a quite getaway . The views from all the rooms were wonderful. It's quite with the exception of birds and farm life which was lovely to wake up to. The barn was warm and cosy and there was the offer of a log fire but we didn't need it. The kitchen was well equiped and Chris was very helpful when the oven broke and got it fixed quickly. There is wifi so you can use your own devices but cannot get Netflix etc on the TV there but that was fine. There are lovely walks around the farm and plenty walks to do near by so overall We would reccomend this lovely Barn Cottage.

The Ballroom at Cutthorne offers everything you could want for a perfect holiday. Many thanks to Chris and Freya. My friend and I loved being there. VRBO however were very poor with communication when I requested a slight change to my booking.

Lovely rural retreat

We had a really lovely short stay in very cosy accommodation with beautiful views and farm grounds, our toddler loved watching the farm animals especially the ducks every morning and we had a very relaxing few days in a great location for quick access to amazing Exmoor walks and local villages , very helpful, friendly and informative hosts.

Lovely stay

We had such a lovely long weekend! The location is superb: in the middle of the Exmoor, but within a 20 minute drive from Minehead. The property was very clean and it looks like it has been recently renovated. My experience with UK showers hasn't been that good (small boilers, little rays) but that was certainly not the case here. So for me, that was an enormous positive! I would highly recommend this property and when the time is there, me and my family will certainly come back.

The property is immaculate and beautiful. The owners couldnt have been more helpful friendly. The location is idyllic. Wish we could have stayed longer. Lovely peaceful location

Cutthorne is the perfect place for a truly relaxing, peaceful stay. The cottage is lovely - clean, warm and well equipped and the setting and views are wonderful. The only thing to wake us up in the morning was the sound of birds and the occasional sheep. It was lovely being able to get close to the animals and Chris and Freya were happy to show us around the farm and let us get close to the new lambs, which the kids loved. The cottage is close to two villages where there are shops and pubs and is well located for exploring Somerset/Devon. We thoroughly recommend it and were made to feel very welcome. We would definitely return.
