Redelijk goed hotel in Lake District. Goed ontbijtt en diner

Here’s a polished version that keeps the positives but makes the frustrations clear and fair: Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The hotel was very clean, our bedroom was nice, and we enjoyed both the pool and breakfast. We were also lucky enough to be seated at a table overlooking the lake at breakfast, which was lovely. The staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. There were, however, a few things that took the shine off the stay. We were initially told there was no charge for parking, only to find an invoice pushed under our door for £12 parking plus a £1 conservation donation. Apparently, the parking charge applies because we hadn’t booked directly with the hotel. It isn’t a huge amount of money, but it felt rather disappointing and left a bit of a bad taste, particularly as I’ve never encountered this kind of distinction between direct and third-party bookings before. The access hours for hotel guests to use the pool were also quite restricted, which is worth being aware of. Our bedroom was too warm and, unfortunately, we only discovered just before going to bed that the fan provided didn’t work. The free Wi-Fi also didn’t work for us, although to the hotel’s credit, we were immediately given the access code for their faster Wi-Fi instead. There is a lot to like about the hotel, particularly the cleanliness, breakfast, setting and friendly staff, but the unexpected parking charge and restricted pool access made the overall experience feel a little less welcoming
