Midden in het oude Matera “ in een oude grotwoning”. Werden we verwelkomd door vriendelijk personeel. Flesje wijn stond klaar. Heerlijk geslapen. Na een lekker ontbijt, werden we nog verwend met “een gift”. Een aanrader!

Thymus Residence is just such a different place to stay with breakfast taken just next door to our accommodation in a former medieval church. So many interesting features in the immediate area. We chose a cava suite at Thymus for 3 nights. Simply had to have one of the former cave rooms if you’re going to Matera! Such a different experience to staying in a regular room. But while still visibly a cave architecturally, it had every convenience to a high standard. Absolutely amazing.

Ótimo Hotel e check-in rápido e cordial. Hotel único para se ter a experiência de se dormir "nei sassi di Matera". Maravilhoso café da manhã. Hotel muito bem localizado e fácil para turistar por Matera. Funcionários muito prestativos. Voltaria com certeza!

Great (modernized) cave stay in Matera.
Loved the hotel. Very caring and helpful managers and staff. Beautiful room, well equipped. Modern within the cave setting. Great breakfast- Matera has the best bread (and the light ricotta with fig syrup - amazing). Convenient location to everything (but note- parking is outside the old city for all hotels and a bit of a challenge to find).

Struttura bellissima e personale eccezionale, sia le signore della reception che il signore del ristorante. Pensavo fosse scomodo da raggiungere invece è su una comoda strada pianeggiante e panoramica che collega Barisano e Caveoso, ma ben mimetizzato tra le case. Ottima colazione dolce e salata. Letto comodissimo. Siamo stati super bene. Segnalo simpatica colonia felina nei dintorni che ha reso ancora più felici i miei bambini.

The resort Thymus is exceptionally unique. Gorgeous rooms in the Matera sassi grotte. Perfectly restored with all amenities. A unique experience. Rooms are spacious, have jacuzzi in a private grotta, super clean, tastefully furnished in authentic style. The staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. An absolute treasure

The people at this place are sooo lovely and sooo helpful. The cave room was well appointed although bed squeaks when moving in it. The people made this place a lovely cave to stay at. Can not recommend them more.

Après une erreur de chambre nous avons été up gradé, mais information sur les parkings et les voies interdites aux véhicules très succincts et peu efficaces . Le fait d’être dans des sassis implique beaucoup d’humidité.

What an unbelievable hotel with the most exceptional hostess! Apart from the pain of not being able to park, this stay was an absolute highlight. Expérience unique !
Si vous voulez passer une expérience unique et exceptionnelle à Matera, c’est l’établissement et le lieu idéal. Nous avions la suite de 70m2 avec le bain à remous, que ça soit du côté esthétique ou confort, tout était parfait. Dommage qu’on doive visiter la ville car on aurait aimé passer encore plus de temps dans cette bulle de féérie !

The hotel room was inside a cave. Completely renovated, clean and very memorable! The Thymus is conveniently located. Walking distance to all of the sites and restaurants. The Sassi is a vey interesting and unique place. The hotel staff helped us with arrangements and reservations for a tour and restaurants.

Todo muy bueno. Lo único que hay que tener en cuenta es que cómo está en el casco histórico no se puede llegar con auto, hay que dejarlo en las áreas de parking de las calles donde hay áreas de pago (marcadas en azul) y otras libres (marcadas en blanco), hasta el hotel solo llegan vehículos autorizados. Pero a la vuelta desde el mismo hotel nos llevaron con las maletas hasta donde habíamos estacionado el auto.

We had an exceptional stay from start to finish !!! Such a unique place to stay we loved everything about it. The receptionist who checked us in Bora, was very welcoming, informative and helpful even though she'd only been working there for 4 days. The room was fabulous, cosy and warm after a long day out in the cold and pouring rain , perfect to come back to where we ordered takeaway pizza to have with the complimentary bottle of wine we'd been left as a gift.The next morning we all enjoyed our breakfast and our hosts were very hospitable. We would highly recommend staying here 100%
