The hotel is easily reached by bus from either Derby or Nottingham. However, if you plan to do a lot of sightseeing in the area, it's probably best to have your own car. In spite of its proximity to M1, the hotel is set in a quiet and pleasant location. Most of the staff was very kind and helpful: one of them was on the same bus as us when we arrived, and kindly walked us from the bus stop to the hotel. This was especially nice since we arrived late in the evening. Just the receptionist we encountered when checking out was somewhat blunt. The room was clean and comfortable. There was tea and a water heater, but no minibar (not a problem for us since we never use it). While I found the bed to be okay, my girlfriend found it altogether too hard. We asked for an extra blanket for her to sleep on, and received one very quickly.
