Casa Monique

Monique is an unexpensive but smart and stilysh 50 sq metres fully equipped apartment that lies on the first floor of a building located inside the walls of Lucca. The location is superb: along CORSO GARIBALDI (the bespoke leafy street) with its shops and groceries as well as ice cream shops with the main town plaza PIAZZA NAPOLEONE over the corner and in 3 mins walk from the RAILWAY STATION.

The apartment is provided with a wide range of facilities to provide a confortable stay: air conditioning, high speed wifi connection provided by the national phone company, clothes washer and dryer, a kitchen with freezer, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, american coffee maker and a wide selection of cooking utensils (the living area has a lovely view over trhe roofs and medieval buildings of the town); a master bedroom with a king size bed and windows overlooking the leafy lane, a study room with desk with a sofa bed that can eventually become a second bedroom with 2 twin beds to host 2 extra guests, a bathroom with a built-in shower.

in 30 steps from the apartment there is a bike rental shop where bikes can be rented in the morning and given back at the end of the day.

Nous avons passé 5 merveilleuses journées à Lucca et ses environs. L'appartement a toutes les commodités nécessaires pour un séjour des plus agréable. Un appartement rénové mais avec tout le cachet ancien, beaucoup de fenêtres ce qui compense le fait qu'il n'y ait pas de terrasse. Endroit propre, sécuritaire, accueillant. Mrs Sonia nous a bien accueilli, avec un guide avec des infos pratiques portant sur la maison , ses recommandations de restos, d'épicerie, etc. Ce fut très utile pour profiter encore davantage de votre visite de Lucca.

The apartment was extremely cold and I could not seem to adjust the temperature at all. It read 19 degrees no matter what the outside conditions were and what I did with the dial. Today, my last day, there was no hot water. Also the Nespresso coffee maker was not working consistently.However, Elizabeth the apartment manager was helpful and the apartment was very well equipped although I did not cook anything during my 3 weeks.

Lovely apartment in a great location

We love Lucca and it was our first visit back for 5 years. We had stayed in Casa Monique before and we were lucky to find availability at the time we wanted. For a couple it is excellent accommodation really comfortable bed and very well equipped, much better than many places we have stayed in. Best for us is that we arrived by train and it is probably the closest apartment inside the walls to the station, about 7 or 8 minutes walk. Check-in and check-out was straightforward and the hosts were easy to contact and deal with. We will be back for sure

Great location

Lovely apartment! We went in July which can be very hot in Tuscany. ....and hot it was! However, the AC in the unit was fantastic and kept us cool. Great location, easy to access parking either outside or inside the wall. The kitchen was well equipped although we didn't need it much. Queen size bed was perfect and the apartment had plenty of space for the two of us. Elizabeth did a great job of showing us around and answering any question we had!!! We would definitely come back to this place.

Well located and spacious

The apartment is located on a street where you can park your car, something exceptional in Lucca. Nice views from all the windows. It is well located, near the wall with easy access to all. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. Great for a couple. The second bedroom gives on to the master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/sitting room giving it a lack of privacy if you are staying with a second couple, but ok if they are your own kids. The best room is certainly the master bedroom. It faces south and has the best day light. The bed is very comfortable, as are the pillows and bed linen were of good quality and well ironed. The sitting room/kitchen has terrible lighting, very off putting. The placement of the sofa is awkward. The apartment was not very clean.

The property was listed and actually appeared as shown. There was a complete guide the owner went through with us upon arrival. Everything was truly within walking distance inside the city walls. We had a wonderful small restaurant on every street as well as the most amazing gelato selections we've ever experienced.

Great location, tired but adequate apartment

Apartment is very well situated in the beautiful walled city of Lucca, very close to parking and train statin just outside. It’s on the second floor, 33 stone steps from the street entrance. Very quiet and peaceful, but views are rooftops and unattractive courtyard. Bedroom is fine, not as lovely as the picture, and fronts the street which on weekend is quite noisy well into the morning. Air conditioner is loud. Living room couch is comfy but could really use a coffee table. TV is a 19” monitor placed far away in kitchen that receives only Italian tv channels. Property manager met us at the door when we arrived, but seemed rushed and uninterested, with no info provided about AC, tv, etc, and offered to help us to deal with a lost suitcase at the airport, but never responded to our calls asking if she got through to them. Basically, we never saw or heard from her again after checkin when she collected her cleaning fee. Modest apartment but good value.

Lovely apartment in good location

The apartment was very comfortable. Although we did not cook, the kitchen was very complete. Too many good places to eat right around the corner Right near the wall path and the portal out to the train station. The manager did not feel well, so it is hard to say much about that aspect. WE just left the keys on the table as instructed when we left.

Fabulous apartment and location inside beautiful Lucca’s walls

Sonia was a perfect host meeting us at the apartment and getting us set up. The apartment is as beautiful as pictured and quite comfortable as well as fully appointed with everything you may need including a washer and dryer. The location just inside the walls was great for us as we were able to park our rental car inside as well as at longer term parking just outside the walls. The street itself has quite a number of shops and restaurants as well as easy access to the wall for walking and bike riding. Delicious Italian coffee, pastry as well as gelato are only steps away. Sonia's Guide provides really nice recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We loved our visit!

Wir haben 3 Wochen in dieser Wohnung verbracht. Sie ist sehr schön eingerichtet, blitzsauber, gut gelegen, ruhig, hell. Sonia hat uns persönlich empfangen und war sehr hilfsbereit. In der Wohnung hat es eine ausführliche Dokumentation über Lucca, mit allem Wissenswerten und vielen Tipps . Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können diese Wohnung nur empfehlen.

Really nice apartment in great location just inside the walls

Although we enjoyed visits to Pisa, Florence and the Cinque Terre we absolutely loved Lucca. Because of the trips planned and needing to use the train a fair bit we looked for a place to stay on the south side not too far from the station and this was ideal being an easy 5 to 8 minute walk. The apartment was on the first floor and had everything we needed. It was a reasonable size well furnished, comfotable and fairly quiet. The kitchen was well equipped. There were a few minor niggles like the shower being a bit intermittent, the bathroom floor often being wet due to a possible leak somewhere and having difficulty in shutting the front building door! Lucca is a super walled city and although the best restaurants seem to be on the other side nowhere was too far to walk and we seemed to keep finding new and interesting places whenever we went out. Highlight was hiring bikes to cycle around the walls - an excellent bike rental shop is on the same road as the apartment 2 minutes away. Mrs Sonia was a nice person to deal with and helpful when we arrived. We will definitely come again.

Terrific little apartment meeting all of our basic needs.

We loved Lucca and this apartment was part of it. The location was great, close to the train station and easy to find. Communication with Mrs. Sonia was also good. The apartment itself had everything we needed. The bed was decent, the kitchen well equipped and the space was decorated nicely and clean. The only reason I did not give it five stars was that the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent. Perhaps this is common for Lucca but it was not our experience in other areas of Italy. Bottom line - we would stay again and would certainly recommend Mrs. Sonia for someone to rent from.

Sehr schönes Appartment. Gut ausgestattet. Mitten im Zentrum.

Sehr schönes im "shabby chic" aufgemachtes Appartement. Freundliche Gastgeberin (Sonia). Voll ausgestattet. Trotz Innenstadtlage sehr ruhig. Wasserdruck in der Dusche ist recht gering und das warme Wasser ist schnell "aus". Parken ist generell möglich, teuer, aber entspannt per Kreditkarte zu bezahlen. Dennoch sehr empfehlenswert. Gern wieder!
