We were 7 senior adults ranging in age from 62-90. We greatly enjoyed the view from the deck as we chatted and reminisced about growing up in the Asheboro area.
The property was very spacious and lots of room. It has a great view of the lake, and it was gorgeous. The house is decorated very well. We had a wonderful weekend with beautiful weather.
The house was able to accommodate 8 of us comfortably and I was also able to bring our dog on vacation. The location was quiet and the dock was great. I had a few questions and was able to contact the host and he always responded back quickly. I would definitely recommend staying here and will book again if back in the area.
Not Quite the Getaway We Had Expected, But Still Had Fun
The Bad: We noticed very early that the kitchen was lacking in good cookware. There was one small skillet that was (in my opinion) too small for a house that sleeps so many. The one baking sheet was crusty and should be thrown out. We bought our own cookware at Wal-Mart to use. One of the queen beds was very loud and creaky. Upon further inspection, we noticed that the wood frame was broken. I emailed our customer contact with Evolve, but got no response. Later that afternoon, we called the customer contact and found that Evolve had given us an incorrect email address for the contact, so the email was never received. He was excellent to work with and bought a new bed frame and mattress and had the old bed replaced before end of day. We also brought to the contact's attention low water pressure in the house. Maintenance workers came the next day to address the problem. We were, however, without water at the house for a day, which was inconvenient. The bunkbeds are also very loud and squeaky. The gas grill is falling apart.
The Good: The house was clean and smelled fresh. It is decorated nicely. Plenty of deck room to spread out and enjoy the views. Fishing and swimming off the dock is fun. Ducks in the lake will eat out of your hand. Quiet neighborhood. Shopping and good restaurants are nearby. Boat, jetski, and other rentals can be found on the lake nearby. Some of our most relaxing moments were sitting on the dock in the late evenings watching the sun go down.
We spent 4 days/3 nights here. The layout worked well for our party of 10 (8 adults; 2 kids). We had plenty of room to hang out, cook, eat & sleep. The room with the sectional & tv provided a great hang out space for the kids. The outside space allowed us to enjoy beautiful views of the lake, grill out & dock a rented pontoon boat.
The owner was a great communicator from the time we booked throughout our time at the house.
The rv parking along the street in front of the house worked well for a truck & 5th-wheel trailer measuring 40ft without having to unhook.
On the downside, the house was minimally stocked w/ supplies such as towels, toilet paper, trash bags & serve-ware to accommodate 10 people for 4 days. While there were some plates & bowls, many of them were chipped. There was not enough flatware for all of us. The can opener was rusted & did not work. We had to purchase items we expected to be stocked in the home. This was disappointing considering that the house is marketed for the number of people in our party.
Our first night was a bit of a struggle with the air conditioner & getting the house cooled down. The next day we checked the returns to find that the 2 filters had not been changed in quite some time. Once we removed them, we were able to cool the house & sleep more comfortably. We shared this with the owner since they do use property management.
With a few changes, we would give this rental a higher rating. It was a great space for our larger group.
Our main issue was cleanliness.
1. It was very obvious the floors had not been cleaned at all. We reached out to the contact and he told us that the cleaner was unavailable. And let us know where the mop and the mop bucket was. After having to empty the bucket five times because of the dirtiness of the floor, my daughter-in-law was able to get it decently cleaned.
2. Both showers had significant amounts of mold.
3. It had not been dusted in quite some time. We sent a video to the contact, but he didnât seem to be concerned or respond back to us about it.
4. The grill was so nasty that it was unusable.
5. The patio area was also unusable.
6. The porches had not been swept or blown off. There were actually leaves and spiderwebs that had obviously been there a while.
7. The laminate flooring was buckling and gapped to the point that it cut my grandbabies foot and we had to make sure that the children all kept their shoes on for their safety.
8. The water pressure was so bad that you could not use water into rooms at the same time. For example, if you had the dishwasher on, you couldnât take a shower or if you flush the toilet, you couldnât run water in the sink. Two people cannot get showers in the two separate bathrooms at one time nor wash clothes.
I spoke to the contact and actually sent pictures, but he didnât respond back except for a list of things we need to clean when we left.
4 bedrooms upstairs. 2 bathrooms. The downstairs isnt available to use yet. The owner is still working on it. There is 2 living rooms, large kitchen. Plenty of outdoor seating. Lake was muddy and full of drift wood. The county doenst suggest swimming in it. I dont know what that means for fishing.
Thank you for sharing your home with us! The location is perfect, beautiful views from the deck and inside the house. The house is very clean and comfortable and spacious enough for our family. The driveway is very steep!
We had a great time with family at this lake house with an amazing view of High Rock Lake. . The property is gorgeous and very accommodating for families or groups. The house was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Would highly recommend.
