Lovely little stay while doing the NC500! Can’t recommend this place enough, so full of character and charm. Great facilities, lots of games, CD’s, books and small goodies in the kitchen. Didn’t need to use the log burner but I can imagine how lovely this would be in the colder months. Place was lovely and clean with a great shower too. The host is great, popped in to say hi and give recommendations too! Was just round the corner if we needed anything, offered more logs, laundry facilities etc! Would definitely stay again!

Very cosy and comfortable!

Paul was a very friendly host adding nice touches such as fresh milk in the fridge for the supplied tea, coffee and biscuits. Started a fire in the wood stove and it was such a cozy evening. Really lovely place.

This was a beautiful property to stay at and Paul was an awesome host! The picturesque living room looking out at the mountains and farm animals was just perfect! David the ram was my husbands favorite!

Paul was extremely helpful with communications. The property is lovely and is exactly what we needed for the evening. Certainly one to use if your route takes you this way.

Paul met us at the property and talked us through all the cottages features and discussed the local area. Cottage was immaculate and spotless. Very comfortable beds and a great nights sleep. If you are doing the NC500, then this is a perfect stopover and very tranquil. Would highly recommend.

Un padrone di casa estremamente gentile, in un posto da sogno su un susseguirsi di laghi. Il cottage affaccia su un prato che può essere il simbolo della autentica Scozia. Il posto è isolato, non c’è dubbio ma comunque su una strada, questo lo rende estremamente affascinante.

This is our second trip to the Smithy house and have enjoyed it both times. Paul is very friendly and helpful. We love the glittering toilet! The beds are comfortable and the room is tidy. It’s quiet and a short ride to the Stoer Lighthouse where there are amazing views.

Perfect location for our half way stop on NC 500 so glad we had sunshine as the roads to the cottage would be challenging in bad weather. We did try to drive down to the beach for sunset but missed the turning and ended up stuck behind a herd of cows. It was good to light a fire have a drink and warm up a pizza. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but we forgave it because everything else was so good ( and we do usually sleep on king size vspring which is difficult to match away from home)

Well-appointed cottage that was once a stable block. Very nicely renovated with all the essentials that you need in a vacation home. Welcome pack (including a small bottle of milk!). Comfortable bed. Wood burning stove plus electric heaters. Set on its own behind the main house, it is visited by sheep grazing on common land and deer coming down to visit. Beautiful part of the country and well recommended for those wanting tranquility and calm (no tv!).
