Prachtig authentiek hotel in het centrum. De schoonmaak kan beter. Dit gebeurt niet automatisch. Je moet een bordje aan de deur hangen. Er is geen koelkastje om je drankje koel te houden.

Teleurstellend
Had in januari dit hotel geboekt en betaald voor 2 een persoonbedden. Bij aankomst was de boeking niet te vinden, zou niet betaald hebben, geen 2 een persoonbedden...of wij even in een stapelbed wilden, en mijn vriendin is wel 1.90 lang. Bij aankomst zoek, zoek waar is mijn kamer in dit grote gebouw met alle trappen, want er is niemand die even meeloopt. Eigenlijk kamer met balkon geboekt, werd dus kamer zonder balkon. Geïnstalleerd in de kamer bleek de douche geen warm water, dus verhuizen naar een kamer met een hoop straat herrie, om over de herrie in het hotel maar niet te spreken want de kamer lag precies onder een houten trap. Houd rekening met een echt basic ontbijt! De locatie was super. En het zwembad was heerlijk, behalve de knetterharde ligbedden.

Mooi sfeervol hotel met wat eigenaardigheden
Een erg leuk en sfeervol hotel in het gebouw van een voormalige kostschool. Let bij het boeken vooral op de soort kamer. We hebben een aantal nachten verbleven in een Mary Sharpe kamer die wat aan de krappe kant is. Wel een ruime badkamer, vreemd genoeg geen warm water aan de wastafel. Prima bedden. We hebben ook een paar nachten in een kamer in de Chapel wing gezeten. Ruime kamer en badkamer (evenmin warm water wastafel) en een terrasje met uitzicht op het zwembad. Het ontbijt stelt niets voor en zou net zo goed achterwege kunnen worden gelaten...

If you like a hotel with character this is the place for you. Reception staff were great, there is a pool where you can chill. Wifi was good and if you don't want to leave the grounds, nice reception rooms to read. Will be back..

A more rustic feel to your stay in Kuching instead of the usual high-rise hotels in concrete buildings with no character. Very central location. It is also very near to local bars, so it can be quite noisy during Friday and Saturday nights if you get the rooms on Chapel Wing.

Really lovely place to stay in Kuching in walking distance of the waterfront And with plenty of character. There are some great views from the communal areas and a lovely swimming pool. The staff were helpful and the breakfast nice but basic. The surroundings are quite noisy so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Would highly recommend this place to stay!

Nice property but inconvenient for travellers with big luggage as the staircase a little high. Also it’s wooden property as such you can hear noice for people walking outside and room upstairs of you.

The Marian was a huge surprise, a small reception area…then upstairs you are greeted by a beautiful garden and an inviting pool, both immaculately cared for, and perfect for a relaxing holiday. The room was gorgeous, my only issue being we found it difficult to get warm water in the shower. Overall though, great staff, great location and a few great cats too!

Strategic location and classical architecture
The hotel is an old building with nice architecture. Very strategic location with scenic surroundings. The room we stayed was spacious with old furniture. The beds were clean but the floor and toilet/bathroom doors were dusty. The reception staff were not very friendly. We had to carry our luggage through many stairs to find the room on our own but later we discovered that we could bring the car to a car park just behind our room without having to climb any stairs. The staff should tell us that when we checked in. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and could not sleep well the second night as the fire alarm rang a couple of times after midnight.

Clean and cosy for a 2-star hotel. Staffs are friendly too. Overall I enjoyed my stay there! :) However the downsides are: 1. Too noisy as rooms are not soundproof. 2. Can improve in choices of breakfast. 3. Noticed that gate to carpark was often closed and locked up.

Funky Central Kuching Base
This place is a great, interesting place to stay, with comfortable, clean air-conditioned rooms and lovely sitting areas with airy windows to catch the breeze. There are a lot of steep stairs to get to the upper rooms which can be hard after a day in the jungle. There is also a lot of noise from the Chinese Karaoke every night across the road 6.30-12 and then 5am call to prayer then church bells and sometimes fireworks from the Chinese temple. Use ear plugs and get the staff to help you with your bags and you'll love staying here, it's got a great pool, very funky and in a terrific central part of town.

The grounds is just such a relaxing place to be and the building & decoration takes you back a little to nostalgic times. Staff were very attentive & sort the small issues I was having with the room facility. The surrounding noise can be a little annoying at times but it's right in the middle of the city and it's no high rise building so it was expected. All in all a pleasent stay & for those who wants a little peace while able to explore the city I would recommend this place.

Lovely property, full of character and history. It’s central location is ideal for easy and quick access to the Kuching Waterfront and shops. The only negative was the breakfast terrace doesn’t have a non-smoking area making it quite unpleasant at times.

Hotel full of character and awesome location!!
One of the coolest hotels we’ve ever stayed in! Loved all the touches and the character. Very Comfortable bed and nice big bathroom. Pool was really nice. The location is sooo great.. close to waterfront and good restaurants. The restaurant downstairs was really cool and we loved having a drink at the end of the day there. Hotel Breakfast needs some fresher options but good coffee. We loved this hotel and would highly recommend it.

The property has some lovely period features. The rooms are spacious, the pool great escapism from the heat, the staff are really pleasant and the gardens pretty. Breakfast is Ok. The huge let down is the unrelenting music that blasts out every night until at least 11pm at both weekends and weekends days. The music comes from the adjacent venues.

This is a great place to stay. Excellent location and comfortable. Breakfast is bland but good coffee. Super staff.
