Modern Luxury in the Catskills! New 7 Bedroom Home

At only a 2.5 hour drive from New York City, this stunning and modern 8 bedroom, 5 bathroom 4,000 square foot house just underwent a 2 year gut-renovation to become the perfect weekend retreat for anyone looking to experience the countless activities the Catskills has to offer! Although very private on 3 acres, the house is just minutes away from skiing, snowboarding, hiking, lakes, swimming holes, mountain biking, shopping, and a 40 minute drive to Woodstock and Hudson.

Situated right in the middle, just 9 minutes from Windham Mountain and 10 minutes from Hunter Mountain, this private estate features a fully stocked chef’s kitchen, with brand new state-of-the-art stainless steel Bosch appliances, and two dishwashers. The massive kitchen island is great for hosting wine and cheese parties, and the nearby dining table can comfortably seat 16 guests. If entertaining is what you’re after, the house has 4 ceiling speakers in the kitchen/dining room, 3 speakers upstairs in the living room, and 2 wall-mounted speakers outdoor, all controlled by the latest in Sonos technology on our super-fast Wi-Fi network.

The upstairs living room has abundant seating for all with a 16 foot Restoration Hardware Cloud sofa (the worlds most comfortable sofa) facing the TV, as well as two other large seating areas in viewing distance of the large TV for cozy movie nights after a long day out in the mountains. There is also fully stocked wet bar with a wine fridge and a third dishwasher, as well as a regulation size pool table for your guests to enjoy.

There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor; one with a king bed, one with a queen, and the last with a full-size custom bunkbed. There are also 2 full bathrooms on the first floor. On the second floor, there are 4 bedrooms; one with a king bed, two with queens, and one bedroom with a twin-over-full bunkbed. There are also 3 full bathrooms on this floor, one being an en-suite.

Part of the beauty of the Catskills is the great outdoors, so we have provided two options for outdoor grilling; a Weber gas grill, and a conventional charcoal smoker grill. There are also two large picnic tables for outdoor dining on the deck, outdoor lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a sectional sofa on the upstairs deck for reading, relaxing, sun-tanning and of course, star gazing. There is an outdoor firepit as well to enjoy smores by the fire on cool nights and ambient outdoor night lighting to set the mood.

Plumbing issues

We were there to celebrate our parents 85th and 90th birthday. Although the property looked nice online and when we arrived, we soon found out it had some major plumbing issues which we encountered on our first evening. We reached out immediately and the owners took a while to get back to us and then finally promised a plumber the next morning by 10am. By the next morning our plumbing situation got rapidly worse and we had raw sewage backing up into both downstairs bathrooms and showers. The odor was awful and we had to leave all the windows and doors open which then attracted flies. The plumber never came and we waited around all day for another plumber to arrive and they didn’t arrive until after 1:30pm. We could not use the facilities or running water so we reached out again to the owners as our parents special birthday dinner was supposed to be that evening at 6:30pm and no one could shower or get ready. They finally called and arranged for another vrbo house to use bathrooms and showers. Unfortunately, the plumbers had to remove two toilets completely bring in a lot of noisy machinery and open up the septic system and they didn’t leave until almost 6pm. We had to cancel our dinner that evening as a result of how long it took. We wasted an entire day of dealing with plumbers and cleaners when we should have been enjoying a peaceful and relaxing time with our parents and family.

Much needed ski getaway with friends and family

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful, modern house in Jewett. The location was perfect! A short drive from Wyndham and Hunter mountain. The house is complete with all the amenities you would need to host a large gathering. There are plenty of rooms and bathrooms which is a key factor when traveling with multiple families. There are two floors so it was nice having the kids play upstairs while the adults enjoyed spending time downstairs by the fire The host was super responsive and accommodating to all of our needs. Only recommendation I would make is for another TV to be available for the first floor. It was a bit challenging trying to share the TV with the kids upstairs. We highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a house around Wyndham and Hunter mountain and we will definitely be returning! Thank you so much for an amazing trip!
