A Perfect Base For Exploring Skye And The Cuillin

Nyumbani is a traditional single storey Skye cottage situated in its own wrap around gardens overlooking beautiful Loch Harport on the stunning west coast of the Isle of Skye. Nyumbani mean 'our home', in Swahili, and this aptly describes this attractive cottage, with its homely lounge/dining room with open fire, deep leather sofas, family sized kitchen and 3 generously proportioned bedrooms. There is a lovely conservatory that provides a second lounge area, with large flat screen TV and DVD. Doors open onto the fully enclosed gardens that surround the property. Bed linen & towels provided.

House needs complete make-over and deep cleaning

Lots of work to be done to the house and garden, broken doorhandle, worn out benches, no TV and no help with satellite installation offered (you can go watch the EC in a pub :-(; mold in the bathroom and we were with a COPD patient :-(, not heated at the moment of arrival (heating to be turned on 1 hour later). Beds not very comfy. No facilities for waste separation available. The house could use thorough cleaning as well..Such a pity because the location is great! Paid to much for what is offered.

Fijn ruim met fraai uitzicht, midden op Isle of Skye en in directe omgeving van Fairy Pools.

Ietwat verouderd, maar goed uitgerust en zeer sfeervol en ruim huis.

Very comfortable home with lots of room. Great for a base to explore Skye or to just relax. The house was very clean, but a little worn and the kitchen equipment a bit sparse. The Talisker distillery is close by and The Old Inn is definitely worth a visit for a pint and some food.

The house was very clean and very warm and dry! We did incur lots of rain & listening to it in the sunroom was quite nice. There were no "surprises" about the property which is good. Location was great. We were looking for something rural but not so far off the grid that we couldn't find anything. Would absolutely recommend a stay here.

Fabulous position, very spacious, comfortable. Its not luxury but thats clear from the listing and it's very good value compared to other properties for high season Skye. Keith the caretaker was great, helpful. A very lovely and easy stay.

We enjoyed our two night stay here! Walking distance to Talisker distillery, close drive to Fairy Pools. We used it as a base to see other sights on Skye - Quaraing, Kilt Rock and Falls, Old Man of Storr and Portree. The cottage was spacious and comfortable for our group of 5. Lovely views from the cottage as well!

Carbost Getaway

Lovely, cozy 3 bedrrom home perched high above Carbost and the Talisker Distillery. Had views of the Loch and mountain landscape. We walked to and from the distillery, allow a good 30 minutes each way. Also loved the home's sunroom with view of pasture and sheep. Well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Be prepared with groceries although tiny store near distillery, not sure of hours. Cute inn and pub. Make reservations for tours and dinner. Fantastic!

It felt like a true escape from the world, quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to explore Skye’s beauty.What made this place stand out was the authentic, local feel. It didn’t feel touristy or overly polished — instead, it gave us a real sense of life on Skye, which made the experience all the more meaningful and memorable.The space was cozy, comfortable, and perfectly suited for relaxing after a day of exploring. We loved waking up to the views right outside the window — you just can’t beat that.If you’re looking for a genuine, scenic, and unforgettable stay on Skye, this is the perfect place. Location was great, excellent views from both the front and back, parking was really convenient, property manager was very nice (showed us a couple of things and gave some insight about hikes in the area). However, if cleanliness is important to you, this might not be the pick. The floors were swept and the counters wiped, but the caulking in the sunroom was moldy, the blinds were broken, towels were old and in poor condition, the bathroom was in very poor condition (window closure was broken and stuck slightly open, the caulk around the tub was missing, mold all around the tub, mold in the window, mold along the trim on the outside of the tub, the floor was squishy and felt rotten, bath tub faucet did not work), all of the carpet was stained and very old. All of the faucets in the house dripped unless you REALLY wrenched on them (which, in turn, made them difficult to open). The cookware was mostly in poor condition and we were really only able to find one useable pan. No handsoap provided in the bathroom.

Das gute zuerst:Ein schöner Ausblick und letztlich hat das meiste funktioniert.Das Haus hat ein so großes Potential, leider wird es nicht genutzt.Das Haus strahlt in alles Facetten aus, dass sich niemand mit „ Herz“ kümmert und nur das allernötigste gemacht wird und selbst nicht mehr akzeptabeles Mobiliar nicht ausgetauscht wird.Insgesamt würde ich niemanden das Haus empfehlen und es auch selbst nicht noch einmal buchen.Die Internetbilder Der Wohnung sind treffen insgesamt zu, dürften aber 10 Jahre alt sein.Wir haben uns einfach wegen des Gesamteindrucks nicht Wohlgefühls.Zum Glück hatten wir fantastischen Wetter…PS. Auf Fotos ( die ich habe ) wurde bewusst verzichtet
