All our normal hotels in Leuven were full. This was thus a fall back choice, but sometimes you get lucky. It is the opposite of mass tourism--7 rooms in the 1710 coach house of Kasteel Neerijse, about 15 minutes by car from the center of Leuven. A more beautiful, bucolic setting, is hard to imagine, and we got lucky again. May 30-31 were brilliantly sunny.
The modern rooms were bright and cheerful, and the bathroom functional although separated from the bedroom by a glass wall. Breakfast was fine.
For dinner, you either go to Leuven, or we went to a brasserie on a beautiful lake in Zoete Water. No city on these days!
The place is managed by a young couple who are friendly and engaging.
In short, a travel experience that is different from the take a number and wait your turn mass experience. Whew!
