Enjoy life at the beach at Dunes House! This home has impressive views of the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The open living space on the second floor has living, dining, and a well-equipped kitchen that all look out to the Atlantic. Enjoy a cookout on the large deck off of the second floor or unwind on the screened porch. The first floor has a second living area leading out to the pool that can be heated for an additional fee. Surf and sand are a few steps away using the beach path next to the home.

The modern Coligny Beach Park area provides benches, swings, restrooms, and changing rooms for beachgoers. Just a mile down the coast, the Coligny Plaza Shopping Center has been an island favorite for over 35 years. Here you'll find over 100 boutiques, beach shops, novelty stores, coffee shops, and delicious island cuisine in one central location. This vacation rental is conveniently close to several golf courses for the active vacationer. At the same time, the Sea Pines Forest Preserve, offering walking paths, boat tours, and a unique archaeological site, is just a little over three miles from your front door.

THINGS TO KNOW
This property has a pool that can be heated between Labor Day and Memorial Day for an additional fee. If the outside temperature is colder than 55 degrees, the pool cannot maintain a warmer temperature. Refunds will not be given if the pool does not reach your desired temperature but is still warming.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.
2 days notification is required in order to heat the pool. A fee of USD 55 per day must be paid prior to check-in to purchase pool heat for your stay.


Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Fantastic stay

Overall, we would absolutely stay here again. Having the pool and walking right onto the beach are really the reason why we go on vacation. The beds were all comfy and the place was clean. They did a great job on the kitchen renovation. The bathrooms all need work. The lack of doors to the master bathroom is awkward and trying to even climb in the ginormous tub in there, it’s just a waste of space, but certainly did not take away from our experience. It was pouring rain when we were checking in and water was pouring in through the bricks on the fireplace and through the downstairs sliding glass door. I did alert the property rental and unfortunately, no one got back to me until Monday so it was too late for them to do anything since the rain had stopped, but it did not impact us after that point anyway. Chloe from Vacasa was a pleasure to speak with when she called on Monday to see if the leaks had stopped and if she could go anything. The owner is aware of this issue with the door and plans to do new windows and doors at some point. I hope it doesn’t ruin the property in the meantime. The deck really needs to be taken care of. You can’t go out there without shoes and it’s too hot to even sit out there during the day because there is no umbrella. A retractable awning would be a great solution and maybe a trex deck or something that will hold up to the weather. These are all minor things really though. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Beautiful location, but property issues.

Let me start by saying that this is the most beautiful location and view I have ever stayed at. You can see the ocean from your balcony. Pros:Location!Layout of houseCons:This one is huge for us: no lights out back to use the pool at night! I mean, no working flood lights, and no light built into the pool itself! We called to try to get them to come fix the flood lights at least, and it was never taken care of. You have to swim in utter darkness.Communication in general: this is a Vacasa property and not owned by an individual human being with a cell phone number. If you have any issues at all, you are calling a 1-800 number and talking to someone across the country who cannot really help you. Hence the above issue about pool lights was never solved.The last night we were there, after dinner we found ourselves locked out of the house completely. This place changes batteries in nothing, and the front door keypad uses batteries. The batteries died and we were unable to get into the property. Luckily one of our kids had forgotten to lock the back door or we would have probably been locked out for the night. Again, there is no human available locally to help you (see above comment about communication). When we left, the keypad had still not been fixed. And it was not for lack of us contacting them!Basic little things like the fact that half the tvs has remotes with dead batteries. There were so many little random things like that.

Dune House

Love the kitchen renovation since our last stay. We enjoy the proximity to the beach and Coligny Circle from this home. This home houses our family of 8 comfortably. The ocean view is amazing. We are repeat customers of this home.

Beautiful views and well maintained

Dune House is a wonderful location and the view of the ocean and beach is awesome. We loved our stay and really enjoyed the pool and there was plenty of furniture for our group. The kitchen has recently been updated and there is plenty of storage for groceries. The room with the bunk beds is very small and not comfortable for adults, but all other rooms are nice and having 4 full bathrooms is great with a large group. We loved this house and would definitely consider booking again if the 5th bedroom was a normal size. We were a group of 11 people which consisted of 2 families with adult children.

Shabby, but not chic

This house is showing its age. But that didn’t bother us. Luckily all major appliances worked properly, unlike previous reviews. I thought it was fairly clean until I moved the couch cushions. It did lack some trash cans which was a little challenging. But it is hard for me to understand why the owners/managers wouldn’t fix the little things that would make it look so much better. For instance, why not replace the multiple light switches that were broken. Literally, 4-5 metal levers instead of regular switches. And how hard is it to reattach cabinet doors instead of letting them hang off their hinges? It truly is little details that make a huge impression. Otherwise, the location is perfect and the pool is a great bonus.

The houae is dated. The oven was broke when we got there with the door being held up by a barstool (and despite daily communication with property management it was still broke when we left). We had brought food to cook for 10 people in the oven but had to do something different every night. They offered only $25/night reimbursement, which is noy acceptable for what we had to spend on dinners. There is quite a bit of mold in the bathrooms. The sliding door to go to the pool downstairs kept coming off the track. The location and pool were great, though.

Relaxing cottage on the shore

My family was there in early June and the weather was great. It has privacy and a great view. Inside has two separate living rooms so people can enjoy different activities but still be close by. The pool was our favorite space. All day you can choose to stay in the sun or in the shade of the deck.

Perfect location and space for our family

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed at the Dunes House for our annual family vacation. We will be back next year! We have 3 grown children and 2 dogs that we vacation with at HHI. The house is perfect for our needs. We love it.

Beautiful view, could use a few key updates

Beautiful view, from the top balcony. We requested the pool to be heated, and it was, but the hot tub was the same temp, so not great. Overall we all really liked the house and neighborhood, except a few things, some fixable, some not…. -The house is right next to a beach access -sliding glass doors do not slide very well, the kids couldn’t open them at all. -window in bottom bedroom does not open, top lock malfunction -master bath shower loses water pressure toward end of every shower -master bed windows don’t open, blinds in window panes don’t work, -a big one for us, the pool has no light, so unless you want to use motion lights that keep going on and off it is utterly dark back there and the pool not safely accessible of a night. -kitchen knives really need replacing, tips broken, stained -5 bedroom house with parking for only 2 cars -banister on top deck a bit sketchy/loose Just a little insight for anyone wanting to rent this house…. Of course we had a wonderful time and it was very spacious for all of us.

The property had an excellent location but It could use a little TLC. Two showers didn’t have hot water. We were able to fix one and the other was looked at after a few calls and told it couldn’t be fixed. The master bedroom had a deck with a fan but we couldn’t get the door unlocked. They provided the bare minimum of supplies such as dish soap, paper towels, dishwasher soap, etc. The spa didn’t work.

Being right on the beach is the best. House is well set up and kitchen fairly well equipped. Needs some repairs including a working fireplace and windows and blinds that open.

Enjoyed the views and proximity from this large, cabin like beach home. We had plenty of room for 9 people and 2 dogs. There is a roach problem in the kitchen and the pool furniture is dilapidated. Once those two issues are resolved, I would recommend this home.

It was ok. Issues were algae in pool because it was on spa setting so pool didn’t filter properly. Cobb webs in corners of ceiling, during heavy down pours of rain ceiling leaked around chimney. With that said the view was beautiful.

Poor Property Mgmt

The house is in a great location, can't beat ocean front and accessibility to the surrounding restaurants. Like the other reviews, the pool and hot tub were not functional and dirty. I called ahead of our stay to check on this, due to the reviews and was told everything was functional and ready. We arrived to a very dirty pool, and a half filled hot tub. The mgmt company said they would have someone out to clean the pool within the next day. The pool was cleaned on our last night 6:30pm, before our 10am check-out. The house is dated, but fine in that regard, it is a typical beach front dated home. However, the dishes in the cabinets and drawers were dirty. It seemed everything was put away dirty from the previous stay. The home was dusty, and the floors felt dirty under our feet. No issues with the beds, although after a day in the sun, sleeping hard is no problem. The stove is no longer a glass top - so this was recently replaced and was functioning during our stay. Overall it seems to be a property management company issue with the consistent bad reviews on this home. It has great potential, if clean. Of course we still made the best of it, and spent the majority of our time on the beach. I can appreciate the ample seating in the dinning and top deck - that was a plus.

Great Location and Pool; House Could Use Some Updating

The location and views from the house were fantastic. Great to be just steps away from the beach and ocean. The pool is large and was a pleasant place to hang out in the afternoon. It took some trial and error to get the hot tub working, since no instructions are provided. The temperature of the hot tub cannot be regulated, meaning it was too hot when running for some members of our group. The house is definitely worn around the edges and could use some maintenance and updating. One of the kitchen cabinet doors fell off when opened. One of the wooden dining room chairs would occasionally have to be put back together. The bed in the master bedroom is incredibly loud--the squeaking took a while to get used to. The microwave is very small. Basic utensils--for instance a corkscrew and a bottle opener--were missing. There are no pool toys or beach accessories provided. There is no umbrella provided for the deck, which gets very hot during the day. Fortunately, I knew to bring one with us. Vacasa, the management company, could make this a nicer place with a little effort. Communication also was an issue with Vacasa. I initially tried through the VRBO platform after booking the house, but received no helpful response from them for two months, despite several attempts on my part. I finally figured out that calling their national number was the best (and only) way to communicate with them. The folks at the call center were helpful and able to get the answers I needed about the house from the local office fairly quickly. There is no way to directly communicate with the Hilton Head office, even when you're at the house. The check-in instructions emailed to us were vague and incorrect. The code we were given for the front door was wrong, which we discovered after we arrived at the house. Fortunately, someone at their call center was able to help. There was not a welcome/information packet at the house -- so no instructions on how to run the hot tub, dishwasher, etc. No detailed info on local restaurants and other businesses. All of that said, I still give it four stars overall because the location and pool were that great. We would stay here again if the price is right but it may not be our first choice.

Not well equipped in the kitchen for 12 guests. Lighting is terrible in the seating area of the kitchen. Broken kitchen chair and corner cabinet. However, distance to the beach was awesome. Beach view was great. Twin beds in a very small closet area. Fourth bathroom was the one off the kitchen with full shower. A full bathroom on bottom floor would have been better and the one off the kitchen as a 1/2 bath.

great location but house is worn and not well maintained. problems with gas grill; two windows popped out (!) and generally poor utensils and often dirty or greasy. Property manager should do a thorough inventory and a very deep clean.
