'Arrived late at night with our tree kids. Front desk guy said he could not find our reservation which we made and prepaid on Expedia. Made us wait while he checked In other guests. Then said he could not accept the reservation confirmation on my phone and that the Expedia confirmation number meant nothing to him. At this point my husband called Expedia on his cell phone and discovered that the reservation was indeed valid and under his name not mine. Front desk guy then revealed that he had this...

'This place looks like a throwback to the 1950s. While that could be a negative, it is not. The place has been fairly well maintained. The staff was friendly, the room clean, everything worked, and the bed was quite comfortable. All things considered, this place is one of those gems you will want to remember if you're in the area and need a place to stay.'

'Building was old and out of date but clean. Road back to the property had abandoned buildings and unmaintained roads. Gentlemen that checked us in and ladies that checked us out were friendly and professional. Parking lot was well lit. Would definitely stay again'

'Very good option for a budget motel. Clean, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water. Like all at this very low price point, there's some wear and tear, but they try very hard and do many small things better than expensive hotels. Breakfast is minimal, but adequate and better than some other extremely low-cost places. Wi-fi not so good, but you can't expect everything at this price.'

'Our room was small yet had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. This was our second visit to Thistledown; we love the decor and vicinity to the Diamond and shops. Note… this is not a BnB.'
