We had a great time here! The location was great. It was so peaceful and access to the pond was perfect (which is why we chose this home). My son and husband fished a lot, we kayaked daily and the water is SO clean! We were able to find everything we needed close by- restaurants, shopping, entertainment for the kids. Loved having the washer and dryer right in the hall for small daily loads of towels, etc. the home was charming and nicely updated. There were a few cons, as there will be with any rental⊠There are a lot of windows, and only the bedrooms have shades, which made us uncomfortable walking around the house at night in the dark, in the middle of the woods. The deck furniture was all stacked up and covered in pine needles and debris, making it difficult to use them without pulling out heavy metal furniture and cleaning it first. We did not see the firepit that was supposed to be under the deck. The directions to get to the property could be slightly clearer, letting guests know that there are private property signs that say do not enter made us nervous upon arrival. We werenât sure if we were going down the right path at first. The pans in the kitchen definitely need to be replaced, they have seen far better days. Lastly, the cleaning could have been done better. During our stay, we saw an old bandaid on the floor, a dog bone under furniture, pistachio shells. That made it feel unclean. All that said, these issues werenât deal breakers. We would stay here again!
A small but quite comfortable tucked away house, clean and neat with good AC. Very private via a bit of a wicked road. Keep in mind your vehicle will need 7" of ground clearance.
We enjoyed overlooking the pond perfect for a canoe or kayak not so great for swimming but thatâs OK. Well appointed Kitchen. Nice porch and deck.
our only recommendation for the owner would be to provide a few games simple stuff like backgammon, board games etc. Overall an enjoyable stay.
I would prefer to keep this place to ourselves so it's always available. Kayaking and swimming out the back door, super quiet private property minutes from beach and food, and bike path close by. Coffee on the deck in the morning, beverage of choice in the sunroom at night.
The house and location are nice. Dealing with NEVR was very good - efficient and pleasant. The water had a lot of iron in it which wasnât a problem. But the odor coming from the drains - the smell of rotten eggs/sulfur gas was horrible. I think something is wrong with the septic system. I couldnât brush my teeth without gagging. If sensitive to smell, I donât recommend this place
The property was very comfortable with a beautiful view of Aunt Edies Pond. We are considering a return visit during the summer. There was no road noise, just emergency vehicle sirens.
Perfect home for our family of four. Home was very clean and had everything needed to enjoy our vacation. Beds were comfortable, AC worked perfectly, outdoor shower and washer/dryer were great additions. Very private location but close to everything. We brought inflatables to enjoy the pond - having a kayak or canoe would be perfect as well. Perhaps the owners are looking to have one on site in the future. All in all zero complaints. We enjoyed our time here immensely.
The property was as described, but, in need of a yard clean up/sprucing. Perfect location near everything, while still coming home to peace & quiet. Wonderful setting to bring our fur baby. Cottage has been updated nicely, as indicated with a thoughtful welcome bag. The living room sofa needs a deep cleaning (the extra fee for pet should cover this) and borders/baseboards need thorough cleaning, as well as, bbq grill; otherwise, tidy & clean. Great size deck, nice to have enclosed sun room, as well.
Two tips: book directly thru NE listing agent. Also, would be great to have, had insider tips regarding beach parking/permit situation, as opposed to the typical tips on hot spots, etc. Overall, Harwich is a beautiful community and a quick few minutes to Chatham. We will be back!
Needed a summer retreat for me and the kids that would allow my dogs. Owner and property manager were very accommodating in this regard! Easy check in and out. Water access to the pond right from backyard just as shown. It is not a âbeachâ but it worked great to launch our paddle board and kayak. Yard couldâve used a spring cleaning to clear tree beaches and debris, but nothing that prevented us from enjoying the space. Loved hanging out on the deck. Decent internet speeds and coverage. Dog Friendly neighbors too!
This spot was perfect for our family of three. The house is updated, clean, and has a gorgeous spot in the woods. We had easy access to everywhere on the Cape and when we were done exploring we ate dinner on the deck overlooking the pond. We brought our paddleboards and spent a few beautiful afternoons paddling with the pond to ourselves.
We fell in love with this property from the moment we arrived. It's just so cute and the pond is so fun. We had our kids, ages 7 and 5, and our dog and we just had a dream vacation. Everything seems brand new and the beds were phenomenal. The kids had really nice bunk beds with the bottom bunk being a full. Washer and dryer were brand new too. A great house and we will absolutely be back!
We really enjoyed our stay. The driveway is difficult so 4x4 is seriously suggested. The house was nice and very accurate to the pictures. The "sandy" beach however was not. We would rent there again, very peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The location was very convenient as well.
Wonderful location. You probably should have a truck, the road is a bit rough...but at the end is a little hidden gem. Our pupper loved running straight into the water everyday. I loved paddle boarding in almost solitude. We also went to Port Harbor nights in Harwich and stopped by Chatham for a little shopping. For us, it was perfect.

Very aptly named âHeavenâs Hideawayâ for both the cottage and sublime surroundings. The home had nearly everything one could possibly need, including a helpful information booklet. Our only negative was the mattresses (queen bed was way too soft to support 1 person weighing 280 lbs.) and wish the entrance road ruts could be leveled a bit - however, every other aspect was beyond wonderful and pure heaven!
We had an incredible week at this gem of a house! Traveling with two dogs is never easy, but this house was perfect for them, and our little family of 3. Cape beaches aren't particularly dog friendly, and we usually spend our time at Nickerson State Park where there are a few ponds that allow dogs, but here we had our own pond and private beach! The house is cozy, updated and very comfortable, but the pond and the privacy is the big winner here! I give it 4 stars only because the highway noise was at times a bit loud, but the woodsy seclusion made up for it. Thank you to the owners for a great stay!
We liked this cabin on the pond. I was surprised at how quiet it was with its proximity to Rt. 6, so that was a huge plus. Convenient AND quiet! The pond was great for our dog to swim in - she had the best time. The only thing I wish I had known in advance was that the driveway is quite a rough road. It was tough for our Prius to negotiate. I wish we had brought our SUV instead. The kitchen is small and is the main entry point to the house, which was a bit of a challenge with the ins and outs - but it is still functional. The deck is a nice place to overlook the water and enjoy your coffee. House has a bit of an odd layout but was just fine for our small family of three plus dog.
We spent a week in mid-July at this secluded Harwich cottage. If you're looking for a very quiet and peaceful vacation home, this is it! Our 1 year old son and yellow lab also loved it!
Our favorite feature was the deck overlooking the pond. Really nice little updated kitchen, fairly comfortable beds and couches. I personally enjoyed the outdoor shower too.
A few minor things: the bathmat was super slick. I'd advise ditching a mat altogether and installing some sort of non-slip surface. Also, we ended up needing to buy toilet paper as nothing was provided.
Due to all of the sand around the outside of the property, some of it gets tracked in to the house and unfortunately the broom provided did not include a dust pan. I would advise updating the broom and include a dust pan.
For miscellaneous floor cleaning, the tiny vacuum worked great!
Overall, we had a very enjoyable week at this property.
