Vergane glorie
Dit hotel kon de hoge rating echt niet waarmaken. Voor Portugese begrippen redelijk prijzig en dan verwacht je toch wat meer kwaliteit en luxe. De kamers waren karig en ook de aankleding van de overige ruimtes waren saai. Het diner was eenvoudig ondanks stevige prijzen. De bediening was onkundig en niet attent. Kortom: fraaie locatie die geen belevenis biedt.

Het verblijf was heerlijk. Mooie en grote kamers in een oud klooster. Heerlijk ontbijt. Zwembad ligt er goed bij. Op loopafstand van mooi centrum, vol met oude straatjes, winkels en lekkere restaurants.

Heel bijzondere historische uitstraling
Geweldig. Hoewel we er maar een nacht verbleven, hebben we enorm genoten van de prachtige tuin en het bijzondere historische interieur. Vriendelijk personeel, uitgebreid ontbijt, uitchecken binnen 10 seconden, , kortom bijna perfect. De badkamer was iets aan de krappe kant.

We crashed at the Pousada Mosteiro de Guimaraes mid-afternoon after a morning exploring Guimaraes. We were almost at the end of our two-plus week trek. We were ready for down time. We spent a lovely afternoon walking the grounds, swimming in the beautiful pool [allowed though the pool wasn't yet officially open], having drinks on the terrace, and having dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was a delight.

How often do you get to stay in a monk's room?
This 12th century monastery is one of the most beautiful and unique places we have ever stayed and it was truly a highlight of our recent trip to northern Portugal. The hotel is steeped in history and we enjoyed just wondering through the various rooms, the peaceful cloister, the immaculate grounds, and the church. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The location is a short, inexpensive taxi ride from the town's center or you can walk. The only thing that could use some slight improvement is the breakfast.

A unique and memorable experience to stay in such a beautiful and historic building. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic. I don’t know about the dinner. We had an amazing dinner in Guimaraes - a 20 min walk downhill and a 3.50 euro Uber back. Our room was large, clean and with excellent WiFi. I like how well they combined old history with modern amenities. Recommend the hotel for anyone who wants to experience something a bit different.

Service de première classe. Jardins et vues magnifiques. Faut essayer cette vie de château dans un monastère historique. De Porto, pour visiter Guimaraes, je vous suggère le taxi pour sauver du temps à peu de frais ( informez-vous? Les taxis coûtent 3 fois moins que chez nous.)

Fabuleuse expérience
Séjour fantastique dans le cadre majestueux d'un monument historique. Nous avions choisi une chambre supérieure. De belles prestations et un bel espace. Dans les plus à rajouter, je pense que l'ajout à minima d'une bouilloire serait à envisager. Parking exterieur possible. La piscine extérieure est sublime. Les animaux sont admis avec supplément et bénéficient d'un cadeau. Le petit déjeuner était bien fourni et de très bonne qualité. Nous avons également diné au restaurant de l'hôtel une jolie expérience avec des mets de qualité et bien servis. Je recommande ce très bel hôtel à la hauteur de ses 5 etoiles.

Too far from the beautiful sites of historic Guimaraes, not convenient at all. Very difficult to access the hotel due to narrow twisty dangerous roads, which are even worse at night. (Guess it would be fine if you plan to only stay at the hotel and not go into Guimaraes historic center)- It would be great if the hotel had a shuttle to and from the historic city center. There are lots of stairs, difficult for those with a mobility challenge. Snack bar at pool was not open when it was scheduled to be open. Surrounding grounds were beautiful. Parking was plentiful and easy.

Magnifique séjour dans un splendide établissement
Superbe séjour dans un magnifique établissement ! Nous avons beaucoup apprecié la gentillesse du personnel, le charme et la décoration des lieux. Tout s'est très bien passé et nous avons adoré chaque minute du séjour. Pour ceux tentés de réserver, nous vous conseillons de vous y rendre en Uber ou autre taxi privé, car les bus peuvent être rares, et l'hôtel est en haut d'une pente.

If not sure about making the trek to this location - do it! We absolutely loved our staff. The check in was a bit rocky, but once we got set up, the staff walked us through the hotel to our room and shared some of the history of the building and monastery. The dinner and breakfast were both wonderful experiences and the service impeccable. This hotel was a highlight of our entire trip to Portugal.
