Carefully renovated, this estate exudes charm whilst maintaining an elegant, contemporary feel throughout. Traditional materials and architecture bring warmth to each room, making you feel completely at home. The main entertaining space can be found in the fully equipped kitchen, designed for you to enjoy the company of friends and family with all the comforts of home around you. Whether you are gathered around sharing a bottle of wine or cooking a spectacular meal to enjoy al-fresco on the terrace, the kitchen is certainly the heart of this home. There is a beautiful lounge with comfy sofas, perfect for putting your feet up!

The nine bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, perfect for a good night’s sleep. With architectural features in Pietra Serena stone and pretty views that overlook the valley and forest, the bedrooms at Casa Gherardi feel like private retreats.

Each room consists of a sleeping area and a chic lounge. The decor combines a fresh, modern style with natural colours and Italian design elements. Embellished with artist Simone Boni’s murals depicting the nine neighbourhoods of medieval Florence, the rooms maintain the same magic and elegance as the rest of the property. 

Outside, the space is bright and open, with a maze of paths winding through the garden. There is a large infinity pool, perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. Surrounded by strawberry trees, rosemary and jasmine, the only option is to put your feet up and relax, finishing off your favourite summer book! For those who enjoy dining al-fresco, there is a fabulous outdoor dining pergola and spacious dining table to seat twenty-two guests. Exuding style and charm from the inside out, there is no better spot to enjoy the scenic Italian countryside, soaking in the sun and enjoying the picturesque surroundings. 

The location of Casa Gherardi is perfect for wine tasting, as it is located within a world-famous wine (and olive oil!) producing region, celebrated by Verdi, Michelangelo and many others. This opulent estate offers a truly idyllic rural retreat. Stroll around the estate or explore by bike, with winding forests, olive groves and vineyards.

The closest town is Greve, a 10-minute drive away. In fact, the villa is perfectly located both to visit the art cities (with Florence about a 45-minute drive away, or Siena a little further afield, ideal for a day trip) and enjoying the tranquil calm of the Tuscan countryside.

Location:

Casa Gherardi is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, halfway between Florence and Siena. A maze of paths wind through the garden, surrounded by strawberry trees, rosemary and jasmine, with views across the countryside. This charming property is a wine-lovers paradise situated on an organic farm, with a historical wine cellar in operation since 1404. 

A stay at Casa Gherardi would never be complete without a visit to Florence, Siena or both. You can drive to the cities or take the train or bus. Florence is the larger of the two, with its renowned collection of Renaissance art and architecture, a fantastic range of boutiques and a wide selection of restaurants. Siena is a little further away, an hour’s drive from the villa. You could visit multiple times during your trip with an array of marvellous churches, galleries, restaurants, Renaissance and Gothic architecture, and a stunning central piazza. 

Florence is forty-five minutes from the villa by car, making it a must-visit during your stay. For foodies, Florence boasts a vast array of eateries to suit all tastes. Whether you fancy fine dining, street food or a traditional meal in a rustic trattoria, you can find it all among the city's remarkable architecture. Local wines and cocktails are served at various atmospheric bars, or perhaps you have more of a sweet tooth and would love to wander the pretty streets while enjoying gelato.

Florence's Renaissance art and architecture have drawn in visitors for years, so it will be no surprise that the city is overflowing with the most remarkable palaces, churches, museums and art galleries. Some key attractions are The Uffizi Gallery, Michelangelo’s statue of David, located in the incredible Galleria dell’Accademia and the former Medici palaces, The Palazzo Vecchio and The Palazzo Pitti. These vast galleries and Grand Duchal Palaces will each take half a day or more to visit, as there is so much to see and do!
