Nestled in the canyon right next to RIFLE FALLS STATE PARK this unique property places you in the middle of an outdoor paradise. The park is a lush greenery with cascading waterfalls, mysterious limestone caves, wonderful trails, abundant wildlife, and great fishing. Continuing on upstream, past the fish hatchery,and on into the narrowing canyon is beautiful RIFLE MOUNTAIN PARK, full of creekside picnic tables, ice caves, and some of the best limestone sport climbing in North America. From there you enter the WHITE RIVER NATIONAL FOREST, 2.3 million square miles of wonderland. Downhill a few miles from the house is RIFLE GAP STATE PARK and HARVEY GAP STATE PARK, 2 clear reservoirs packed full of fun flat water activities. If you are not familiar with this area, I encourage you to check the map and Google it to discover what opportunities await you. For a dose of town, Glenwood Springs is just 26 miles away, Rifle 13 miles.
Sitting on 2.5 private acres this 1800 sq/ft home offers the perfect 3 couple or 2 family setup. Each of the 2 upstairs bedrooms has a king size bed and the large downstairs bedroom has 2 queens. The bedrooms do not share any wall or floor space for more privacy. There are 2 full bathrooms, one on each floor. Upstairs is the spacious fully equipped kitchen, breakfast nook, nicely furnished living room, and huge east facing deck. Downstairs is the cozy family room with a wood pellet stove, television, and dinning table for 8. There is Wi-Fi, and cell phone service. The front of the house is fenced in for your security with a shaded patio, large picnic table, and yard area. All towels and bedding are provided. We have highchairs and cribs if needed.

Family Vacation, Plus One!

We came to Colorado on a family vacation, as our closest friends have moved to the Denver area, so naturally my husband's BFF came along for the ride. Prior to having children, we referred to him as our adopted son, but now that we have children of our own, he is their "uncle" - family by choice. This house was perfect! Our children slept downstairs and the grown-ups had the upstairs. The guys loved the trail behind the house and climbed a mountain and brought back brautiful photos while the ladies stayed behind and watched a movie, eating snacks. We easily visited all 3 state parks and checked out the different caves. The house had everything we needed and was exactly what we wanted. Enough room to spread out so there was no stepping on one anothers toes. The views could not be better. The best part was meeting our host, Tom. I cannot say enough positive things about this man. He is such a kind, genuine, lovely guman being. By the time we left, I felt like we were saying good-bye to a family friend. We've been watching the news and hoping the wildfires dont make it to his home because we know what a labor of love that has been. We were honored to have been able to stay there for a few days and would love to return. I think my husband's exact words, "You should tell Tom to contact us if he ever wants to sell..." In summary, 5 stars - would highly recommend. It was perfect!

Great house

On the rustic side as befits the area but clean and perfect for families with extensive outdoor sitting areas on both floors. Also 2 family rooms with TVs etc. only 1/2 mile from rifle falls state park and 15 minutes to town. Tom easy to work with and easily reached if needed.

Check in was great! Kitchen facilities were good. Could have been a little cleaner. Garbage can had food on the side. Some cobwebs in the downstairs bedroom. Could use a swifter for under the beds too. Great place beds were comfy!

Beautiful area to stay in with all different terrains! Loved the falls that are minutes away and the Rifle State Park. The Rifle pool was a highlight to let off some energy for my younger kiddos.

Unbeatable location, great host

We stayed here for 5 nights to climb, mountain bike and explore the Rifle area. Since the weather was cold, it was great having a warm place to go to at the end of the day. Since we were the first renters of the season, the house needed a few maintenance items done and the owner, Tom, took care of them immediately. The location is perfect if you're in Rifle to climb - just a 5-10 min drive.

Beautiful home tucked into the mountains

Tom has been a phenomenal host. Extremely helpful and responsive. Our family stayed there for a few nights and we enjoyed it. We visited the falls, went to the apple orchard and went water rafting as well. Beautiful views and location is great. A great place to book to enjoy beautiful town of Rifle and surrounding areas. Will certainly come again next year.

Great place, right by Rifle Falls!

We had a great time in Tom's house! Comes with a fully equipped kitchen and a gas grill outdoors. Plenty of space for up to eight people to sleep in the 3 available bedrooms. Great for big families or several couples.

If you want touristy, fancy, expensive places to walk to, keep searching. If you want a quiet place smack in the middle of some of Colorado beauty, this is great. Nice places to hike and drive, minutes away. Rifle Falls is one of the most beautiful places in Colorado, and you can easily walk there. Tom really loves and knows the area, and is full of information. He's even made trails all over the property for his guests.

Amazing family getaway!

The drive in from town was so beautiful! We all looked forward to it any time we left the property. The house was clean and Tom so kindly stocked it with essentials (water, garage bags etc). The trails on the property were our favorite hikes of the trip! They were easily followed and just hard enough for everyone to be able to do but still feel like a proper hike. We needed some time away from the city and this place really hit the spot.

We enjoyed our 2 week stay. Amazing location with very convenient access to Rifle Mountain Park. It's worth noting that there is no cell service here and the wifi/internet was unreliable at times. Other than that, the house is very comfortable and there is a wonderful outdoor area for grilling.

Perfect for Outdoor Enthusiasts

This home was just right for us. The location was perfect for our itinerary. Being able to walk from the home to Rifle Falls was a huge bonus for me. Tom is a great host with lots of local knowledge. Checking in and out was the easiest we've experienced in all our years using VRBO. Bottom line: If you like natural beauty, being outsoors, and close proximity to rivers, lakes, and streams, this is your place. If you're someone who wants high end, upscale amenities, you might want to look elsewhere. Should we ever return to Rifle, we would definitely stay here again.
