Platte River
It was wonderful to be able to walk down to the Platte River. Although the Sandhill Cranes had already left for their nesting territories, the Bald Eagle was a delightful substitute.

Perfect for crane viewing time …. Or any time !
Lovely , modern , clean accommodations complete with piano and game room ! Wildlife galore , geese glided in on the pond after arriving , walking trail down to the NP river , 5 min away from the crane watching blinds ! Nice host !!

Came to See the Cranes
This was a perfect place for the 4 of us to stay in crane country. It would be great other times of the year too, but we were on a mission to experience the great migration. It is close to the river and there is a public viewing deck about a mile away. As 4 women in our seventies, safety is important. We felt safe there and the owners sprawling farm home is very close by. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Layout of beds probably better for a family with kids, but we made it work. One of the bedrooms has a queen and bunk beds. Although we didn't use it there is a game room with large screen TV available in this converted barn. Anne, the host, was very friendly. We bought some farm eggs to take home. We'd definitely come back.

Nebraska Paradise
The cottage is lovely, and in a gorgeous location. It was perfectly located for our first crane watching adventure! Anne, our host was wonderful and finding the cottage was easy with her directions. The cottage was immaculate, warm, comfortable, and beautifully stocked. Fresh eggs from the farm's chickens were left for us in the fridge. We enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders and the pair of geese on the pond. We can't wait to visit again!

Perfect Getaway
The only reason I hesitate to give a five star review is so others don’t find this place. A hidden gem for sure. Great set up for both winter and summer fun. The place was clean, spacious and taken care of. Both beds and furniture were comfortable and so not get me started when it comes to the steam shower.

Relaxation in the Country
This is a great place to stay; it is a property in the countryside, near a small town, with a two-bedroom apartment in a converted barn next to a large pond, with the owner's modern farmhouse nearby. The Platte River is a few minutes walk away (unfortunately, so is the highway, but it doesn't interfere with enjoyment of the property). Everything was clean and comfortable and the decor was tasteful, with a nice welcome basket of snacks and honey produced by bees on the property. Although I was there by myself, it would be a great place to take kids, as there are tons of things to do - a pond with kayaks and a rope to swing off of, chickens, goats, etc, as well as a large game room connected to the guest apartment. Don't miss the Pioneer Village museum in Minden, a small nearby town - a fascinating, enormous and idiosyncratic collection of 19th C buildings, carriages, antique cars and lots of other historic artifacts. Red Cloud, the town where noted author Willa Cather grew up, is also a short drive away.

Nice weekend get-a-way!
Our family really enjoyed this nice peaceful get-a-way. The pond was perfect for our kiddos to swim the day away. The kayaks and paddle board were a huge plus! The evenings we enjoyed the rec- room and playing games as a family. The owners were home while we were there, but let us have privacy at the pond. Looking forward to visiting again!

Perfect Getaway!
This property is beautiful! The house is well furnished and decorated so cute. Location is peaceful with nice walking paths to the river. The goats and chickens are adorable. This property exceeded our expectations! The apartment is true to the pictures and was clean and well decorated. The games room was a great bonus. Our kids loved watching all the bird life right outside the window and on the pond. Being able to walk to the river and be on trails just out the back door was also great. We will visit here again.

Fantastic Nebraska River Retreat
Anne's cottage is one of the most quaint, comfortable places we've stayed in a long time. It is the perfect spot to stay when enjoying the Sandhill Crane migration but would be equally enjoyable any time of the year. It has everything you need for cooking, game time and relaxing after a full day. The surrounding environment including the pond, farm animals and the trail to the river make every day interesting. Anne is a very responsive, gracious host and she has thought of everything to provide her guests with a comfortable and memorable stay.

Amazing getaway!
A perfect getaway weekend. This place was a perfect little paradise. We celebrated our 16th anniversary and even though the there is snow on the ground. It was so much fun with the game room and hanging out. The steam shower is to die for! We enjoyed the honey and the fresh farm eggs so much!!!! The hosts were amazing. Cozy farm stay!

Exactly what we needed
My husband and I wanted to get away for our anniversary. He wanted somewhere rural/quiet, I wanted the option to go out to eat/do something. This was the perfect combination! It's so beautiful and peaceful, yet a fairly short drive to town. We felt relaxed from the moment we walked in. The game room was fun...even as adults! The property is gorgeous and immediately had us planning another trip there...this time, with the kids.

Stayed here with several of my girlfriends for a girls weekend. Property was beautifully decorated, with soft linens. The pond has a zipline which was super fun, and everything you could want right there. Paddle boards, kayaks, chairs, fire pit, table tennis, air hockey. River was a short walk away, and regarding the depth of the river being low(irrigation time in Nebraska) you really had all you needed at the property itself. Quiet Treasure
Amazing stay at Anne’s quiet treasure, tucked in the woods alone the North Platte. Beautifully done barn with all the necessary amenities for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle. We loved our brief stay at the barn cottage! We stopped here for one night as we were passing through the area on our way home, and we are now seriously considering a future vacation to the Kearney area with this cottage as our “home away from home.” The cottage was a perfect respite for our 4 kids (aged 6 to 16) and us adults to spread out and burn off extra energy in the game room and fish. The cabin is nicely appointed and updated - the shower is amazing! - and Anne is an excellent hostess, providing several thoughtful touches like farm fresh eggs from her own chickens, a basket of breakfast/ snack items, and a couple of bottled waters. We truly felt welcomed and cannot say enough good things about this place!

A hidden gem in a beautiful setting
This property has much to offer in a part of the world not known for its scenic beauty. The clean, roomy and well-appointed guest house gave us views of the main house and pond. A short walk through the woods (complete with squirrels and deer) took us to the north channel of the Platte with its abundant bird life. Anne was a great host. Overall a wonderful stay.

We were looking for a cozy, clean and roomy place to stay for my daughters wedding In Kearney over the weekend. We were wanting a place for the girls to all come out to relax and get ready before heading in to Kearney for the ceremony. This cozy place was exactly what we needed. Mother Daughter Trip | Sandhill Crane Migration
We are so lucky to have found this special spot. When we booked, it was a new rental (no reviews) and I am always hesitant, but the early communication was fantastic and I am so glad I did. First it is charming, cozy and so comfortable. Every ammenity you could need, and it felt very secure and safe. Second location location location. We were visiting for the Sandhill Crane Migration, and this put us so close to where we needed to be. We saved so much time in the early am etc. by not having to drive from one of the hotels. With Sunrise to Sunset chilly outside activities, we so appreciated the comfortable beds. My mom actually said it might have been the best bed she ever slept in! I will always have fond memories of our Barn stay, in fact because I loved it so I am thinking a return visit someday. Thank you for having us.

A welcoming and beautiful guest home
This is a great place. As the photos show, it's a barn that has been remodeled into a game room/guest home. The game room looked like a lot of fun. My husband, my sister, her husband and I really enjoyed the guest home. It is beautifully decorated and fully outfitted. It was very welcoming. It's located 1.5 miles from the Rowe Sanctuary, which was perfect for us. Being in the area to see the Sandhill Crane migration, we had a quick drive to the Sanctuary and easy access to public blinds. There is also a well-marked trail from the cabin to the Platte River, which was a lovely walk. I will definitely keep this place in our Favorites List and ask to stay here again anytime we're in the area.

The red barn accommodations are very roomy and comfortable. The location and surrounding area are peaceful and very private. Ann is very responsive and helpful getting us check in and attending to our comfort. We were there to do some crane watching at the nearby Rowe Sanctuary which was very successful. Peaceful and roomy
Anne has created a cozy & peaceful home away from home for travelers. It was too cold while we were there to enjoy the outdoor area, however we still thoroughly enjoyed the view. The barn is set up with everything we could possibly need and Anne was very responsive to any questions.
