Villa Gaia with pool and garden, Galatina, Italy

A beautiful villa for 10 people, perfect for friends or family. The property features extensive gardens and a new, large private pool. This is the ideal choice for a relaxing breakin the heart of the gorgeous Salento peninsula and is only 20 minutes from a selection of incredible beaches.

This elegant property is laid out over 1 floor with a deep, shaded veranda which looks out over the gardens and is protected by large, mature trees.

The spacious living room has high, vaulted ceilings and French windows which open onto the veranda. It is furnished with two sofas, a fireplace, a flat-screen TV and a piano. Adjacent to this is an open dining area, which also serves as an entrance hall. A short flight of stairs leads up to some bedrooms.

The separate kitchen is off the hallway and is another beautiful room, with vaulted ceilings, a pale stone floor and double glass doors leading out to the veranda. The kitchen is well-equipped with a cooker hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. There is also an attractive wooden kitchen table and chairs as well as a flat-screen TV.

The veranda has a very large dining table for up to 100 people, so relaxed dinners with family or friends are a must. There is also a smaller dining table next to the kitchen doors which is ideal for breakfast or just a cup of coffee, looking out over the villa’s extensive fenced gardens.

Across the shaded stone terraces and green lawn, the large swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers where guests can relax after a refreshing swim. Next to the swimming pool is a tented gazebo where guests can enjoy a cool drink.

Sleeping
The villa has five beautiful separate bedrooms. Some of the rooms have French windows that open onto the terraces around the house. Three of the rooms have double beds and one has a large king-size bed. A fifth room has two single beds that can be joined.

Bathrooms
There are 5 bathrooms in total, 2 are en suite. Each bathroom is equipped with a shower, basin, bidet and WC.

Note
Within the property, detached from the main building, is the home of the maintenance man who will be responsible for cleaning the pool and garden. The pool is open from the end of April to the end of October

Location
The villa is just 7 minutes from the historic town of Galatina, which is a hidden gem. Like Lecce (20 minutes), Galatina has a beautifully preserved Baroque town centre, with lovely churches and palaces. It is the perfect place to lose yourself for a few hours, exploring its restaurants, bars and boutiques. The weekly market takes place every Thursday morning and is well worth a visit to pick up the best and freshest local ingredients.

Although it is in the centre of the Salento peninsula, the villa is just 15 to 20 minutes from the stunning beaches such as Santa Maria al Bagno and the Lido Conchiglie, north of Gallipoli. The port of Gallipoli (the Beautiful City), which was founded by Greek settlers thousands of years ago, is 20 minutes away. Here you will find fascinating historical sites, ancient city walls and some of the best fish in Salento.

The city of Lecce, the “Florence of the South”, is famous for its wonderful Baroque architecture as well as its Roman ruins. It is a jewel of a city and well worth a visit. Not only for its long history but also for its excellent food and good shopping.

The closest airport is at Brindisi - 55 minutes away by car.
