We enjoyed 4 nights and 5 days of rest and relaxation. Fully stocked kitchen to cook /bake prepare our meals. Easy to relax. Spectacular views!! We would stay again.

Absolutely gorgeous property right on the Ohio River. So peaceful. Lots of great hiking nearby. What a treat to sit out on the spacious deck and relax. Hot tub and fire pit were a huge plus. House is spacious and very comfortable. We would love to come back.

Best cabin ever

We loved our stay at this cabin. Jill was a great host who was super understanding and helpful with our family. The Ohio river view is phenomenal. The kitchen was well stocked and there were a lot of very nice touches to the property. It's a very isolated property which is a good thing.

River House was lovely

We really enjoyed our time at River House. 5 adults, 5 kids and lots of space. Such a peaceful location - quiet and secluded. Hot tub and fire pit was great. This house had so many little, unexpected ‘extras’ - highly recommend.

A fun get away

Our whole family had a great time at the Shawnee National Forest. It was our first trip with everyone. The house was perfect - plenty of room for the 11 of us comfortably and was kept up nicely. When we get back down that way, we'll see if this house is available.

A Welcomed Retreat.

The Riverhouse was a welcomed retreat from our busy lives. The home was beautiful, and the river was peaceful. It was the perfect amount of space for our family of five, and everything we could possibly need was there. Jill did a great job communicating with us, and all our questions were answered in the welcome packet.

Secluded and beautiful view!

Beautiful home! Deck with plenty of chairs, also a screened in patio in case of rain. Most comfortable beds ever! Fully stocked kitchen with newer appliances, great pots and pans, wine glasses and every utensil you need. Good shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, plenty of towels. Love our stay abd hope to go back soon. Everything was perfect!

River house

It was so relaxing sitting on the deck watching the river and listening to the birds. The house was close to everything we wanted to do. We enjoyed seeing all the deer. The house was clean. We also enjoyed the screened in porch. There was plenty of room outside for all the activities we wanted to do.

Million Miles From Monday Gals 2023

We had the best time time, primarily because the accommodations were first class! Thank you!!! The kitchen and all bathrooms were phenomenal with the BEST accompaniments such as creamers, Keurig Cups, creamers, sugars, wonderful linens, hand lotions and hand soaps, beach towels for the hot tub and charcoal for the grill! YOU are the best host/hostesses EVER, we’ve been doing this for 20+ yesars and this property was by far the best. Awesome!

Wonderful!

The property was exactly as described. The property was very clean and well appointed. Jill (host) knows how to host! She was very communicative through messages. She provided an advance look at the property’s welcome book (which is very detailed with great information) helping us plan our stay. The property had plenty of outdoor play space for the kids and relaxing areas for adults. While isolated and private, it is conveniently located close to many hiking options. This is a 5 star plus rental. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Gathering of Friends

We had a group of 7 people from 4 different states gathering here for the weekend. We had plenty of space for us all. The house and property is beautiful. The weather wasn't the best for us, we wished we could have used the outside a little more. Communication with the owner was wonderful. We had a couple things pop up, but the owners were on top of handling things over and above our liking. Would love to come back again with better weather, the views are beautiful.

Incredible Family Mini Vacation

We have traveled all over the US and this home fit our family needs and then some. The owners have simply thought of everything you may need down to pony tail bands. The kitchen has the best utensils, dishes, and pans. The view of the Ohio River morning and evening is wonderful..We even had four deer bless us with their presence the last morning. The house is very near to many beautiful hiking trails. Dinner in the quaint little downtown Elizabethtown was a great experience for our grandchildren. The Mercantile store was a treat not only for ice cream but local dairy meats. We do not have enough adjectives to describe our family mini vacation. Simply the best!

Absolutely Amazing!

This house is the best one I've ever rented on VRBO! It's right on the Ohio River with exceptional views. We rented this for a family get away. We had our older children and one younger one and all ages were happy! Communication with the owner couldn't have been better. The house is somewhat hard to find, but the information provided to us was accurate. We didn't have any troubles finding it. Our kids were coming from all directions and they all found it as well. The beds were super comfortable, the appliances worked great, the kitchen was stocked with all the dishes, pots and pans etc that we needed. I could go on and on about this home! Truly exceptional!

Relaxing weekend getaway

My group of friends was looking forward to a relaxing getaway where we could just hang out and have a good time. This place was perfect! From the beautiful deck with the hot tub and adirondack chairs that overlooks the river, to the screened in porch, comfy living space with fantastic views to the oh so comfy beds this was everything we had hoped for and more!! We made one trip to Walmart and that was a bit of a drive, but we made sure to get everything we needed in the one trip. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. We cooked most meals at the house, but did visit the E-town River Restaurant for lunch and Shotgun Eddy's for dinner one evening. Shotgun Eddy's was a bit of a drive but worth it. We visited Cave In Rock which was a short drive and had beautiful views. We had a wonderful stay and loved the house!! Thank you for hosting us.

Family Getaway

This house was amazing! It had everything we could have asked for! A couple days before we left, the owner texted me the pin to the exact location of the house because Google maps will only take you to the driveway and it's a bit of a drive after that (nothing too serious, just a couple twists and turns). It was in a great location that wasn't terribly far from anything we wanted to do. The hot tub was great and a wonderful place to watch the sunrise and sunset. The kitchen was stocked with things that other places I have stayed didn't think of, such as ziploc bags, cooking oil, etc. I did communicate with Jill (host) because I could not figure out how to operate the fan in the master bedroom. She was more than willing to have a maintenance person come out the next day to look at it but I told her not to worry about it. I also had to communicate as we got a pretty nasty storm that had done a little damage to the home (nothing major, just some screens and siding) and she always responded immediately and was very gracious in her responses. My son really enjoyed staying in the area of the house that I believe was an addition because he felt like he had his own apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, and his own entrance! We would DEFINITELY stay here again!

The River House was AMAZING!

We spent a week here with some friends and no one was ready to leave. The house had everything we needed, and even some things we didn't know we wanted (like light up bocce ball, which was a blast). The sunrises and sunsets on the river were beautiful. There was a great space for yard games behind the house, and once it got chilly in the evenings the firepit and hot tub were a perfect night cap. The hiking nearby was great and even walking around the property had some neat treasures, like an old cemetery and hidden beach along the shore line. It was very easy to feel at home here! Jill and Tom were wonderful hosts and answered any questions we had. We had a little trouble with one of the doorknobs; however, Terry, the maintenance man, had it fixed right away. He even gave us a few tips for eating and hiking destinations while he was there. True Midwest hospitality! We will definitely be back!!

Great family weekend

This house was perfect for 4 families. We had 8 adults and 3 kids 5 & under. We enjoyed the solitude while being able to experience the many trails and sites Shawnee had to offer. If children do not enjoy hiking then there were not many other activities offered nearby, but ours had a blast. The house was beautiful and VERY responsive and accommodating hosts. We cooked almost 3 meals per day and had all we needed. Bed were extremely comfortable. We never found anything dirty throughout the house. They did an excellent job with cleanliness and grounds are beautiful. The river was a farther jaunt than expected by the pictures, but still reachable and spectacular views on the new deck watching boats go by all day and night. We utilized the deck and screened in porch majority of the trip. The entire family complimented how this fit all of us comfortably and we will keep this in mind if visiting southern Illinois again!
