The hotel used to be fabulous, I am sure. But that must have been at least 30 years ago, and now it appears as a faded star :) It has its charm, but it is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The service is good, but the rooms are old and not the cleanest, and the restaurants in the hotel are not very good. The breakfast is nice though, but dont expect fast service, as they get overwhelmed if there are more than 10 customers here at the same time! The hotel is based in the relatively safe embassy-area. But expect to walk a bit if you need any shops or other restaurants than the hotel has to offer!
We chose this hotel for proximity to elite shopping.
At checkin there were 5 staff people at the desk & they were very distracted & & it took them almost 1/2 hour for them to check us in.
Blasting music from 10 pm to 5 am is not suitable for sleep. We had to change our room at midnight as we could no longer take the noise.
The hotel is in a very good location and it is extremely safe. The breakfast was excellent--freshly made items, lots of variety and good service. But for a 5-star hotel, the wifi was incredibly bad. The connection was unstable during my entire stay. The wi-fi would cut out literally every few minutes. Despite multiple complaints, it did not get better. The other issue was noise. The hotel staff would often gather in the hallways and chat loudly or shout at each other across the hallway, even late in the night.
