« Privacy was not as advertised. Amenities were poorly maintained. All but a few of the spa jets were disassembled and laying in a pile next to the spa when we arrived. The headrest in the spa was nowhere to be found. Door latches and locks not operational. We could smell the septic tank from the spa. We could see and hear the people in the neighboring properties from our deck and spa. We could hear children screaming from inside our accommodation. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. « Une grande chambre sans climatisation. Très chaud pour s’endormir. 2e étage sans ascenseur. Bruyant car collé sur la rue principale. Ameublement moyen. Salle de bain moyen. Eau de la douche qui varie de chaude à froide constamment. Chaise sur le balcon inconfortable. Lit confortable. »

« Une chambre spacieuse qui aurait pu être plus propre en ce qui a trait aux fenêtres et les recoins. L’emplacement est magnifique entouré de végétation luxuriante. Les chanceux ont une vue sur la mer. Le personnel est sympathique et accommodant avec un early breakfast. Se fait bien à pied pour les restau, la mer ou se rendre au départ du Kaikoura Whale Watch. »

« A thoroughly wonderful spot - clean, modern, spacious, comfortable, peaceful, very well appointed inside and out. All communication is very prompt, helpful, thoughtful and clear. It's clear that a great deal of thought and consideration has gone into every aspect of hosting at Totara Lodge. My only regret is that we could only book for 2 nights! Thank you very much :) »

« The place was great! Maybe not for everyone but perfect for anyone with kids or just looking for something a little different. We are seniors but have done a lot of camping and this was glamping at its best. We picked the yurt which had an outdoor kitchen and an external bathroom. Everything felt really authentic yet still very modern. It all was just there as one would expect from a nice hotel but presented in a different way. Kind of a cowboy camp or depression era type of a kitchen outside...
