The hotel is tastefully furnished with many antiques. Our room, Room of Agnes was on the 4th floor, Maurice, the owner of this property helped us carrying our luggage. The room was larger than expected and fully supplied from cotton swabs to bathrobes, a coffee maker, coffee cups with small cakes, much more than we needed. There were an ottoman and two luggage chairs which I found very useful. My husband an I drove from Mont Saint Michel and stayed there for two nights. Maurice gave us free parking during our stay, so we didn’t have trouble paying at the parking machine. Breakfast was plentiful: coffee, croissants, several cakes, crepes with jams, fruits, boiled eggs, hams, sausages, several fruit juices, cheese, and yogurt. This was much more than we had at previous hotels. I believe Maurice manages very well, cooking, concierging, cleaning. He was a great host.

Super emplacements au pied de la fortresse dans une maison rénovée avec goût. Garage pour nos vélos, merci au propriétaire d'avoir pris soin de la recharge des batteries !) Petit déjeuner somptueux comme dans un chateau. Petite proposition : ne pas placer les croissants dans l'assiette (encombrants pour ceux qui aiment commencer avec du salé ou ceux qui adorent l'odeur de la viennoiserie dans l'escalier mais n'aiment pas les manger...histoire d'éviter le gâchis). Grand merci, on reviendra avec grand plaisir !

The house was utterly charming, nestled on a quiet cobblestone street just a short walk to the castle. The host was friendly and the dining room was beautiful. The freshest of everything for breakfast! Lovely place!

Just stay 3 nights at the Au Relais Saint Maurice. It was wonderful. Maurice is the perfect host and saw to every detail. His 13th C. House is beautifully and tastefully remodeled with all the 21st C. Conveniences (plenty of electrical outlets, WiFi, television with lots of channels, very modern bathroom with heated towel racks). The breakfast was outstanding. Nothing is better than walking to breakfast with them smell of fresh brioche just out of the oven. You enter the breakfast room through a beautiful living room with a fireplace and the breakfast room is incredible. The place settings are very elegant and no detailed is overlooked. Lots of breakfast choices with homemade jams and freshly made crepes. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Chinon. Book the Au Relais Saint Maurice right NOW you won’t regret it. I would definitely stay there again and again and again.

Our trip was made special by Maurice, who provided an unsurpassed level of personal service. We loved him. Maurice went out of his way to attend to our every need. Hotel was charming, outstanding breakfast—including fresh, hot croissants and everything else we could want. Parking was free and convenient. Knowing we had to leave early, Maurice served breakfast before the regular time, then helped us carry our bags to the car. Hurray Maurice!

Souvenir inoubliable
Nous avons passé une nuit au Relais Saint Maurice, et nous avons été satisfait à 200%. Notre hôte était très accueillant et nous a raconté l'histoire passionnante de sa maison. La décoration a été pensée jusqu'au moindre détail et la chambre était magnifique. Nous avons vécu hors du temps pendant notre séjour et nous reviendrons sans hésiter!

Very friendly proprietor. Carried our bags up 3 flights of stairs. Lovely big room with a spotless clean big bathroom with everything you would need. Great location in old town and a really exceptional hotel. Only drawback was communal breakfast. 1 large table with 10 people with no social distance so not very safe in covid times

Thank you for your comment. I confirm that, Au Relais Saint Maurice, is not a HOTEL, but a guest room, my house as indicated on the site. Yes, I can confirm a single common table of 12 people as it is mandatory in bed and breakfast, but I would like to point out to you that you have never had this breakfast with 12 guests, but only 8 people at most spaced by a chair between the couples, like you during your breakfast. I also pointed out to you that at each entry into the breakfast room, there is hand cleaning with hydroalcoholic gel as indicated on the covid recommendations sheet displayed in the dining room door so clearly visible for all. Chinon was a delightful town with a great Chateau to explore. Staying at the charming medieval Au Relais Saint Maurice made it perfect. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed including a good sized bathroom. This is more of a BnB than a hotel and Maurice was a terrific host!

Séjour ravissant au Relais Saint Maurice
Lors de notre séjour au relais Saint Maurice, nous avons bénéficié du confort et du calme d'une chambre bien chauffée dans une ancienne bâtisse magnifiquement rénovée et très bien située dans la vieille ville. Le petit plaisir en plus: l'odeur des crêpes faites maison au petit déjeuner. On s'est senti très à l'aise notamment grâce à l'accueil chaleureux et la simplicité du propriétaire.

Precious gem of a place to stay.
Maurice was very kind and helpful. He even helped me park my car. This little hotel is a gem. Breakfast was wonderful. The view out the window up at Chinon lit up at night was amazing.

Perfect place to stay in Chinon
This small hotel is located in the medieval town of Chinon by the St. Maurice church. It is in an ancient building which has been fitted with modern amenities in the rooms. There is a beautifully decorated dining and sitting room for guests. Breakfast was amazing. Our host was exceptional. Parking in the Jeanne d’Arc parking lot is free and safe. It’s a 12 minutes cobblestone walk so you might want to just take in an overnight bag. Otherwise there is pay parking much closer to the hotel along the river walk.

Outstanding accomodation in Chinon in the old city
This is probably the best accommodation I have enjoyed for many years. From the warm welcome by Maurice who was able to let us check in early to our wonderful room which has been beautifully renovated to an exceptionally high standard. He has done a remarkable job restoring his historical house and it looks fantastic. A highlight is the great breakfast served in a wonderful room with a plenty of different options. Maurice is able to provide parking either on the property or offsite. I would happily stay there again.

Au Relais Saint Maurice was a highlight of our recent time in France. Chinon is an amazing towm with it's medieval centre and the beautiful river on which it stands. Staying at Au Relais Saint Maurice added greatly to what was an amazing experience. Our room was grand and the hotel was wonderfully decorated with charming antiques so suited to the period and locality. We would love to return to France and stay again at Au Relais Saint Maurice.

Great break in Chinon
We had a very comfortable stay at Au Relais Saint Maurice. Wonderful host, interesting room, lovely bathroom, and very good breakfast. The owner had taken the trouble to bake a gluten-free loaf for my breakfast, even though we were only there one night! Chinon very interesting (but very few restaurants are open on Mondays.)

Fantastique retour dans le passé...
Excellent séjour au Relais Saint Maurice ! Dormir dans une bâtisse datant du 13e siècle nous a transporté dans le temps, et ce sans compter le savoir historique du propriétaire qui a su ajouter du charme à la visite. De plus, nous avons commencé la journée avec un petit-déjeuner de roi, le tout dans un décor bien assorti au thème.
