'We only stayed for one night so didn’t bother to ask for an upgrade, but I think you should. We stayed in a not yet renovated room and it was definitely not worth the money. It felt more like a run down youth hostel than a 3 star hotel. Bar and restaurant area are updated and that looks promising for the rest of hotel. Would only return if I knew rooms are renovated.'

'Brilliant, What a lovely welcome, a roaring log fire and instant access to our room without any fuss. The hosts were very friendly and attentative throughout our stay. 'Just returned from wonderful two night stay at Black burn Lodge and it lives up to the rave reviews. Stunning location by the river, where we spent the evenings in the gazebo enjoying the views and a glass of Baileys . The room was spotlessly clean with high quality bedlinen and furnishings. Also separate lounge if weather not great. The hosts make you feel so welcome and provide a lot of formation about where to eat and visit in the area. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.'

'We had a wonderful Easter Weekend in the log cabin. Location is great - 20/25 mins from Carlisle, lots of lovely walks around. So peaceful, the log cabin itself is fab and has everything you need. Tracey and David were really friendly and i enjoyed lots of strokes with the dogs too! We will 100% be back again soon, thank you for such a great weekend away'
