Trullo Melograno - Four Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 8

A seven-cone cluster of Trulli brought back to life with love and care.

Trullo Melograno has been restored in such a way to ensure that the buildings’ original features provide a charming backdrop to the quality fittings and furnishings used to bring the trulli into the 21st century. Outside, the rustic gardens ooze easy Puglian country charm, while the gentle views and pool imbue the whole with an atmosphere of tranquil hedonism.

Inside: accommodation at Trullo Melograno is spread across the main trulli and a dépendance. The main house entrance takes one into the large open-plan living room and kitchen diner.

From the living area, which features an open fire place, a circular hallway (one of the trullo cones) leads to two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first, the main bedroom, is a double-twin served by a bathroom with tub and shower just across the hall, while the second, a double, is cosily tucked away in one of the trullo cones and features an alcove bed. A shower room completes the accommodation in the trulli.

Attached to the trulli is the dépendance, which hosts two connecting bedrooms, one double and one double-twin, each with its own en-suite shower room and independent access to the grounds.

Gorgeous traditional cream coloured stone floors run throughout the property, much of the original stone walls remain on view and the various nooks, niches and alcoves that are so typical of trulli constructions have been ingeniously incorporated into the overall layout making for a characterful and practical use of space.

Outside: Trullo Melograno is immersed in the beautiful countryside of the Valle d'Itria with views taking in large expanses of olive groves, from which, here and there, distinctive white cone tips of other trulli rise. The gardens merge with the surrounding areas, thanks to the presence of numerous olive and fruit trees.

A hop, skip and a jump away from the house across a lawned area, is the lovely pool area, complete with a rustically shaded pergola furnished with cushion-covered sofas.

Back near the house, and easily accessed from the kitchen, is the lovely al fresco dining area, where dinners are destined to last long into the starry night...

This property is surrounded by countryside, some unfenced and may include drops or steep slopes. We therefore recommend that younger children are supervised by an adult when exploring the grounds.

The depth of the pool ranges from 1m to 1.7m.
Trullo Melograno is situated just to the east of the charming historic town of Ceglie Messapica. Gorgeous Ostuni, a beautifully restored baroque town with stunning panoramic views is close by. The Valle d'Itria is probably best known for its trulli, and nowhere are these more in evidence than in the picture-postcard town of Alberobello. Several other lovely towns, such as Locorotondo, Cisternino, Martina Franca and Taranto are also well worth a visit and easy to get to. If you are looking for beaches, the Adriatic coast offers stretches of sandy and rocky coast and some excellent lidos. The Ionian Sea is a little bit further but the long expanses of sandy beach found there are amongst the loveliest in the Med. Further afield, Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto and Monopoli are justly famous towns waiting for you to unlock their secrets.
