Spectacular Views and Exceptional Hosts — With a Few CaveatsSpectacular Views, Some Flaws
Villa Monte Bianco delivers on its promise of a dream sea view, but misses the mark on some key areas. The panoramic coastal scenery is absolutely stunning and alone makes the stay worthwhile. The villa is about a 15-minute walk to the main part of Castiglione della Pescaia, passing through the historic castle—an atmospheric and scenic route. The uphill walk back (65m elevation) is a great way to work off dinner. The living room and patio are wonderful for relaxing, and our hosts were among the most responsive we've ever had—replying within 5–15 minutes every time, even during a storm. That said, there are three things potential guests should be aware of:1. Air Conditioning: The listing advertises the home as air conditioned, but only two of the four bedrooms have A/C. The rest of the house can get quite warm, especially in summer. While opening the patio doors helps bring in a breeze, it doesn’t fully compensate.2. Master Bathroom Design: The master bathroom has problems. The toilet is awkward to use for anyone over 5'7", and the shower leaks water onto the floor and even down the stairs. The water never gets hot in this bathroom.3. Ants: One of the air-conditioned bedrooms had an ant problem. We woke up two mornings to find ants in the bed, pillows, floor, luggage, and nightstand. If not for these issues, this would have been a five-star property. We hope the hosts are able to address them because the home, view, location, and hospitality are all exceptional.
