As advertised but even better! We stayed here for a Cooperstown tournament. 3 adults. Our son also spent a night and loved it. If you are staying for baseball do make sure you check if your tournament is actually in Cooperstown cause ours was in Oneota. This made the drive longer (about 50 minutes instead of 30) Didn't matter to us because the place itself was so unique and cool. It was clean and cozy. The caboose was awesome. While there is not a bathroom in the caboose it is not a big deal. The farm animals are great and you don't need an alarm clock because you have a natural one... Being able to feed them was one of the highlights of our trip. Only 9 miles to Canajoharie which has a great grocery store. Price Chopper. Wifi worked great even in the Caboose. Shower water pressure was great. If you want to be away from it all this is the spot for you. Loved it.
The property is beautiful. Unique stay but the caboose is not usable during winter. Heat in the caboose could not keep up and resulted in 39 temps in the caboose. Our sleeping arrangements were significantly minimized. The listing is not 100% accurate. There is no microwave or electric fireplace indoors. Sam helped us on site and was extremely cordial. Management was a bit slow to respond by text and did not respond to all messages. We were told weâd be given a 30% refund for our stay due to the caboose being unusable but were not given the full refund based on the amount we paid. The refund offered was misleading but management attempted to correct it. Sam and the property are lovely but management and a few details need to be fine tuned. The farm animals were a big plus!
We found the quiet and surrounding farm truly relaxing. Even though we drove sixty miles roundtrip each day, the drive was beautiful and relaxing. The only negative was the wifi being intermittent and the listed password was inaccurate. Overall, a good week.
Unique âGlampingâ experience in a beautiful valley!
Our kids absolutely loved staying in the caboose and feeding/petting the animals! There were a few things I wish we were better prepared for: bring your own water for washing hands/brushing teeth (like you would do camping) because the water here has a very strong sulfur smell; bring hand sanitizer as there is no ârealâ bathroom sink; and lastly, the loft is too high for small children so bring an extra air mattress and do not count on that for a bed for littles. Other than that, we could not have been happier! This will be a core memory for our boys!
We stayed here while my son was playing in Oneonta at the Cooperstown tournament. It was a little far to drive back and forth multiple times a day, but it was such a special place it was worth it. My younger son loved feeding the animals
Beautiful and charmingly quirky country spot with one challenge
We loved the view, the tranquility, the entertaining animals, and the caboose and station house are comfortable and charming. The property was very clean and had nice solar path lights to guide you to in from the driveway. The caboose is really a rare treat. The one challenge, and it is significant - is the water. It smells very strongly of sulfur and therefore is very unappealing to wash your face or take a shower or even wash dishes. If the homeowners would install a carbon filter system it would make a huge upgrade!
We had such a nice family stay at the caboose. Our daughter loved the animals and the train. It was a short drive to Cooperstown and other cute attractions. The place itself was cute and great for a small family. The two negatives were the water had Avery strange sulfur smell. We thought once we ran the water a little it would go away but it never did. It wasnât great when brushing teeth/showering. Also, the bathroom was filthy. Upon checking in I ended up scrubbing the toilet and shower. The toilet had the poop/pee all over it. Also, the shower had a gross orange film all over it. I ended up scrubbing both of them. They both ended up pretty clean afterwards which means that they were never cleaned to begin with. I wish these two things were never the case because. Other than that we had a nice time. Itâs just hard to get over a dirty bathroom.
Nothing was a surprise about this place , it was exactly as described. It was more adorable than the pics online. The beds in the house were comfy and I love the way it was decorated. I want to thank the farmers who shoveled the snow for us, too.
What a perfect setting for us ... we so enjoyed the view while making s'mores over the fire. Short 25 minute drive to Cooperstown. Only suggestion is to add a little extra padding to the caboose beds. They are a bit hard.
Great place, Great experience! Can't wait to go back in the future. Highly recommend to all, especially those with kids. Our son became fast friends with all the farm animals, especially Jackie the donkey
Adorable property. The owners have done a wonderful job with repurposing the caboose. The problem--the owners use a property management company, and as this company boasts online, this property is just one of many many properties they manage. I should have known what to expect when the listing says I would get a welcome message with instructions on how to access the property (including the door code), and it never came--I had to message the management company at around 9pm, asking for the instructions. Then, the last guests must have had spicy chili or something because upon arrival, we saw there was significant cave paintings in the toilet, all the way up to under the rim and seat. I immediately messaged the management company, and was told the next morning that they'd contact the cleaning crew or whatever--who knows if that ever happened, and since the management company never bothered to follow up, the dirty, bacteria-laden toilet stayed dirty and bacteria-laden the entire weekend. Then, even though the "welcome" message said we would get instructions on how to check out of the house, you guessed it--I never got that either, so we just guessed. The management company was either too busy or lazy, or just didn't care enough to respond or make sure we had the basics, like a toilet that didn't come pre-diarrhea stains under the rim. It seems like the owners, who live on the property, are a very nice, hard working family. They deserve far better than this management company.
Overall had a lovely time at the cabin and caboose. The view from the cabin is great; it was a convenient 30 minute drive from Cooperstown; and the farm animals were great neighbors. Only small issue was that the water on site was a bit smelly - not sure if this was just a temporary thing on our weekend or a more long term condition.
This place is phenomenal. Beautiful scenery, working farm with animals close by to watch.
We came to the area to go to the baseball hall of fame. The drive to town was about 20 minutes and very picturesque. The farm itself was a memory for all. Well constructed , well maintained and extremely clean rental. The fire pit are with great view, great seating and landscaping very appealing. This is a great place for all ages but with young children a treat. To live on a farm, feed the animals and sleep in a caboose.. What more would a child need.
I took my two older sons to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and we were so lucky to find such a great place to enjoy! The house/train itself was amazing and the views were phenomenal. My boys loved the big yard to play in and we had many bean bag games. The farm animals were super fun to watch and interact with. I would highly recommend this place to stay!
Also, we cooked some dinner on the outside stove - great times!
The host (Landon) was available for any questions I had before and during our stay! Great host!
Thanks!
This was a great spot for a getaway. Kids would love that caboose experience and the nearby animals who were so nice to say hello when we arrived! We found it easy to get to Howe Caverns and the Fennimore Cooper Museum in Cooperstown. We saw some beautiful sunrises in such brilliant color. Very clean and comfortable!
