« A lovely three night stay at Downton Lodge. Martin and Andrew are excellent hosts who ensure that they run a guest house with very high standards. Lots of details have been considered to provide everything one might need whilst away from home. Breakfast is cooked very well with high quality ingredients, and the hosts known the area in depth so that they can advise their guests of what to do and see. Overall, an excellent stay. »

« Made to feel very welcome. Lovely fresh, clean room with a comfortable bed and good quality linen, which always aids a good night's sleep. Also huge bath towels which I love. Good selection of teas and coffee with fresh milk provided, which was nice. There were also some sweet treats and a tourist map provided in the room, which was very useful. « The best way to describe the Great Western is with the two words, quaint and quirky! The house is in the middle of a massive re-vamp, but that did not impinge on my stay, which was short, but long enough to form a very positive opinion. My room was clearly re-purposed, with the en-suite bolted on, but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom fittings were quite new and of a good standard. « The hotel is good with a queen size bed and overlooks the seafront. However it is a lot more exxpensive than the hotel next door. We didnt have a breakfast as they only serve until 9.15am »
