'I booked the (cheapest) hotel room for a layover night for a multi-day trip by car. The room was dated but the bed felt good and the bathroom was clean. However when I was about to go to sleep it turned out there were no curtains so it was impossible to block the sunlight. When I raised the issue to the staff member at the desk she contacted the manager, after which I got the answer that not all rooms have curtains but it's possible to have an upgrade to the superior room for a 20 euros surplus,...

'This is where you’d want to stay in Zvolen! Large modern apartment equipped with many amenities for your stay (kitchen, cot, many towels & linens, laundry though no dryer/drying rack). Communication was last-minute but okay. Thanks for our comfortable stay!'

'I was highly dissatisfied as after a long drive and arriving late at night, the hotel informed me that I was not in the system (while I had my full confirmation with me). Moreover, the hotel was not as pictured and certainly not worth 100 USD a night. Nonetheless, after insisting that I must be in the system, the receptionist say `Ah yes, you are right, we relocated you (without my knowledge) to another hotel because we were overbooked.` The receptionist then provided me convoluted directions...

'The hotel is beautiful. Zuzka was wonderful. She was patient, very efficient, kind and her English is excellent, which we really appreciated. Thank you again Zuzka! Hope to see you again! Jessica and the USA band Vio-lence. '

'The front desk staff is very helpful & kind. The room was old but clean. There is no aircon, just an electric fan only. There is no shampoo & soap.'

'Hotel zeker proper en ruime kamer, en we kregen aparte bedden zoals gevraagd. Kraan van bad was oud en werkte niet goed.'

'Nice, clean, and big apartment. Close enough to most places to walk or take public transportation.'

'This is a very posh, small (24 room) 5* hotel, located right in the center of the small town of Banska Stiavnica. We were the only guests that night, because the hotel had blocked reservations to get organized for the summer season (and forgot to block Expedia). The hotel owner was working the desk, and was extremely friendly and helpful. There is convenient and secure parking under the hotel. There are a few tourist attractions in town (most interesting - the mine tour) and there are other...

'Absolutely stunning location with a great view from the terrace. Breakfast and lunch at the restaurant were delicious. Steak tartar was flawless. Staff very helpful, especially as we were travelling with a toddler- nothing was too much trouble. Loved the home made jam at breakfast. We would definitely return. Thank you for your hospitality.'

'Foi horrivel. Ficamos num quarto no sotao, onde ao sair da cama, batiamos a cabeça na viga. Nao tinha chuveiro, era ducha com a agua que nao passou de morna. O quarto nao tinha como vedar, tampouco a luz da noite ou do dia. Experiencia bem ruim'
