So super-summarising my views after I ran out of space the first time.
Great location very near to Friedrichstraße station, on the river, and close to all sorts of food drink and sites.
Check in was awful - did all the pre-check in stuff to speed up checkin, then was told to fill it all out again when we got there. Politely but firmly refused and magically that went away. On top of that, neither my wife or I carry physical cards - and Melia insist on a credit card hold for all stays even if you dont want a tab/running bill. It's 2024 not 1994 and needs sorting across most of the large-scale chains.
Lots of back and forth and 50EUR paid (and refunded on check out) and finally checked in. Had asked for a room away from lifts/ice machines, that wasn't even acknowledged and room given directly opposite lifts - too tired to go back at that point. The 50EUR payment also meant no fast check out which also meant queuing to checkout Sunday for no good reason.
Hot buffet wasn't hot, everything bar the bacon Sat am was stone cold, and the bacon had been wafted past a candle, maybe. Not much better Sunday.
No plugs near beds (let alone any USB plugs) - again 2024 not 1994. Major pain charging phones near beds etc. Room very clean and tidy, lovely bathroom/shower.
OK hotel, but will be looking elsewhere next time I return I think.
