We booked our room on Expedia, third-party site which we have used for many years. I called the hotel directly to ask if pets were allowed before I purchased the room. We were told that they were but they did not tell us the fee that was involved, nor was it on the website. We’ve been Marriott rewards members for many, many years and we’ve never had a pet fee more than $50 so I booked the nonrefundable room as we were traveling in the car. When we got here to check in, I was told that the pet fee was $100 and that was more than our room! We were told the charge was to deep clean the entire room that had no carpet,only plastic and pergo floors. The stairs leading up to our room on the 2nd floor were filthy. In the room we had to request another tv remote because the batteries were old and it didn’t work. The battery cover was screwed in because we were told it was because people stole the batteries.there also was no toilet paper, only half.called Marriott to talk to someone and was told that I would get a call back if I wanted to open a case. I said I did because no where in print on their website was the pet fee mentioned. I would gladly give the extra CLEANING fee to charity, but not to Marriott. It appears they bought a very old property and put a band aid on it with a little paint and newer furniture in it. There are no amenities except for a half bar size of soap in the bathroom There was also a shower tray that was on the bottom of the shower not mounted to the inside.
