We stayed at Home Port for six weeks when we first moved to Maine from Colorado. We chose Home Port because of the stunning location and rented the house sight unseen. We were a little nervous doing that, but when we got to Maine and saw the inside of the house, we were very happy with our choice. The pictures in this listing do not do the home justice. The house is roomy and sun-filled, and there is a gorgeous view from every window. We rented in the off season, and since the house has three heating zones, we were always comfortable. The house is completely updated, and I was able to do a lot of cooking in the well equipped kitchen. When I didn't feel like cooking we got take-out from Morse's Cribstone Grill which I also highly recommend. The house has cable TV and high speed internet. For outside activities there are two porches, a backyard, a park across the street (a great spot for playing frisbee with our dog), a gas grill, and many, many places to walk to. My favorite was the short walk to the Giant Stairs trail. And last but not least, we spent hours watching the lobstermen in Mackerel Cove getting their boats ready for the season. Home Port is a rare find, and we will recommend it to our family and friends who are looking for a place to get away from it all.
