No other city in Tuscany is as completely surrounded by a well-preserved ring wall as Lucca. The 4 kilometre long and 12 metre high wall from the 16th and 17th centuries with 10 arrow-shaped bastions is now planted with shady pine trees, which form a popular promenade from which you can alternately look down over the medieval city and out over the surrounding fertile countryside.



Behind the ring wall, Lucca is a great Renaissance jewel without any modern junk buildings, but first enjoy the 5 kilometre walk through the city to get a real impression.
