'The cottage is in need of a deep clean. The bed around the mattress was filthy with dust, hair and cobwebs underneath. The same behind the bedside cabinets. The vinyl sofa in the lounge smelt like a regiment of overweight sweaty men had spent a few summers sitting on it and gently marinating the vinyl until it stunk of stale sweat. We had to disinfect the entire thing with spray. It still smelt bad afterwards. One for the local tip I would suggest. '

'We will never stay onsite at Alton Towers again if this property is available! Closer to the park entrance than hotels, no need to battle the monorail crowds. Georgina the owner was extremely friendly & her communication for check in was excellent. The home itself was newly renovated to an exceptionally high standard. Perfectly clean with all the amenities provided for a short stay. Highly recommended and we will definitely be booking again if lucky to find it available.'

'The hotel is fabulous, the staff are incredibly friendly and the rooms are clean and luxurious. The only thing that could be improved is to fit air conditioning in the rooms. At night the room became quite stuffy and it's not possible to open patio doors at night. Apart from that - amazing'

'Everything about this hotel was perfect. Easy parking, beautiful grounds, lovely clean room with complimentary drinks, fridge, and tea & coffee making facilities. Bath and shower, comfortable beds; lovely, helpful staff. Tasty breakfast, everything you could want, and excellent evening meals. Dogs were allowed, but not in the main house. They didn't really bother us, just a few "yappy" ones. Definitely Five Stars'

'3 night stay over Easter. Pub was clean and comfortable although bed mattress was very firm which meant disturbed sleep for stay. Owners very welcoming. Breakfast was 8-9am which I felt was a little early as we usually like to have a lazy wake up without having to have alarm on so wasnt as relaxing as we would have liked. Breakfast was good but simple so would not have wanted to stay any longer. 1 or 2 nights at the most. No fruit or alternatives and not asked if we preferred eggs cooked...

'This is a great place to stay. Beautiful building and grounds. Friendly staff, good cafe and comfortable bed. Great location for local walks. WiFi hit and miss so no TV for the England game 😉 but wouldn't have bothered us otherwise. Thank you for a nice overnight stay.'

'A very special place to stay as this was the family home of Florence Nightingale. We stayed in two bedrooms which were the rooms that she grew up in before she went to Crimea. This is not a hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a few of the rooms rented out on a nightly basis. The property is accessed through several gates so it’s on very private land. The views are amazing of the local countryside and there’s a very beautiful garden around the house and sheep in the fields a little further...

'Me, my mum, and my little dog had a lovely stay in the peaceful village of Hartington. The staff were all so friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. We stayed in Room 1, which was spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The views over the village and surrounding countryside were beautiful and made our stay even more special.
