'Location right to the beach, its a bit older hotel and lunch/dinner could be better'

'Prachtige locatie. 50 minuten vanaf vliegveld Liberia met taxi.Hotel erg prijzig.. Ongeschikt indien slecht ter been. Veel klauter en klimwerk dan wel gebruik maken van transport middels buggies die permanent gasten naar hun kamers rijden. Hotel ligt vanaf zee bergopwaarts . Ligging wel vrij geïsoleerd, dus geen dorpjes in omgeving. Erg aangewezen op voorzieningen in hotel of het zeer kostbare Four Seasons hotel middels gratis shuttle transport op 10 minuten afstand. Jammer dat het restaurant matig was en de badkamer sterk verouderd, waardoor het ook niet echt goed schoon te krijgen is(voegen en kapotte tegels) Een klamboe zou ook wel fijn zijn!'

Especially the area with volcanic heated hottubs, surrounded by the forest, is spectacular. The horse riding tour which ended ziplining on the compound is a must. Had a lot of fun with the guys, who where true professionals! We will come back for sure!'

'Mooi resort. Service had er iets meer boven op mogen zitten bij binnenkomst bij zo'n luxe resort. Koffers werden niet aangenomen wisten niet waar we naar toe moesten. Inchecken was zakelijk. Twee keer moeten vragen om een extra bed. Verdere service geweldig. '

'The plusses: great chef with creative menu, overal excellent food. Staff was very welcoming and mostly super friendly. The location is breathtaking and extraordinary. Although not adults-only, it is quiet and calm. Why that is important? Because the bird life is abundant! The minuses: the rooms need to be updated and modernized. Bathroom was not at all to standard. You pay literally for everything, starting with breakfast and bottled water! Being a Marriott gold member did not come with any...

'We first visited Playa Negra in 1999. We are so pleased to say that nothing has changed! We love the rustic feel of the Round thatched roof cabins and how close they are to the beach. The rooms while simple and rustic were maculate and the linens crispy and fresh. We heart Playa Negra hotel! Thanks for keeping Playa Negra the same.'

'We arrived to the property but there was no one at the hotel, the lounge, bar and restaurant were close and deserted. Pool was durty, so we decided no to stay at the place because we also felt unsafe. Worst experience ever, I don't understand how EXPEDIA offers this hotel.'

'We had to leave a day early. There was construction going on next to us which we were not told about ahead of time. They are building more bungalows. Between the open netting at the ceiling and windows without curtains, it was noisy and we had no privacy. In addition we waited 15 minutes and didn’t get hot water for the shower the last two mornings we were there. The beach was not walking distance as advertised. 'We were lucky to stumble across Casas Kismet since they generate most of their business by hosting group retreats & only occasionally open up individual units for rent. That means minimal reviews were available through the normal channels at the time of our booking, but we took a chance anyway given the last minute nature of our plans.
