'Great hotel in nice manor. The house itself is very well preserved notwithstanding the modern extensions and the modernisation of the interior. Great space rooms and good facilities like a pleasant swinging pool. We did eat in York before our arrival but the restaurant seems good, the breakfast there was excellent. Good place to stay when visiting York.'

'What a shame ... Invest a little on decor and either more staff or refocus the staff on customer service and this incredible building could feel worth it's expensive room rate. Pretty much every initial impression was poor ..reception abrupt with guests, no offer of bag drop or early check in, bar man unwelcoming and potentially overworked.. Room could've been stunning, quirky space with massive windows facing 3 directions giving incredible views from 5th floor across the beach, Victorian tram...

'Extremely friendly helpful staff. Clean room with lovely bar downstairs. Couldn’t hear any noise from bar when in room. Great breakfast included. '

'Hotel is typical of a high st pub. Fairly comfortable, cozy room, fairly nice bar area. No real issues with any of the above. i forgot my key and got back late, Called the tel no. which was answered after 3 times by an irate gentleman (fairly understandable if he was in bed). However I was not ready for the tirade of foul mouthed abuse I received, All the usual F### and a couple of T#### followed by throwing the key at me, which flew past my ear at speed, and shouting "Pick that up C###" Nice...

'Pleasant quiet room, the hotel is on the less crowded North Bay area so very quiet but this also meant that there was nowhere close by to eat. The proprieter was very helpful when we asked for an earlier breakfast as we wanted to get on with ur onward journey.'
