Woonboten in South Florida

'In August we stayed in Jason's houseboat for two nights. I was really excited about the idea of staying at the houseboat, but is was a bit of a deception. We are a family of four from Holland (Europe) and we're making a trip around Florida for two weeks. The minute we had our 4 suitcases on board, there was actually no space left for us. I obviously misinterpreted the space in the houseboat. That was a pity. The houseboat is old (I think) and it was not as clean as other (VBRO) places we stayed...

'We would not stay here again. The pictures are deceiving. The boat is very old. Appears as it hasn’t been moved in years. The bathroom is teeny-tiny. Ran out of toilet paper. You have to throw your toilet paper away can not flush in the toilet. The cleaning crew was waiting at our door before our checkout time. The boat is similar to a Super 8 or Motel 6 property. '

'Heidi is a fantastic host! We were a family of 4 with a 12 and 15 year old and has a blast on Baycation. Heidi meet us at check-in and was always available for any questions about the area or things we needed. My son loved fishing off the boat and we really enjoyed the quiet Marina. We did the Jet Ski's with JSK right in the Marina. This was such a cool experience and one that my kids will always remember. Thanks again Heidi!'

'First the good. It is a relatively new place and everything looks just like it does in the pictures. The upper deck was enjoyable in the morning and evenings. Everything was clean and well kept. Now for the bad1. The slip numbers are not visible by driving by you need to get out a walk up to the power box to find the slip numbers. No sign on the property to tell you that you are there. 2. The steps into the boat are very steep and narrow and there is no light at night to illuminate the steps. At...

'Host was so accommodating with great communication. Sleeping on the water is perfect with A/C, power, and full bathroom. Comes with a cooler and ice. The kayaks, dingy, and paddle board allow you to go to the near by sandbars and islands. Great place to swim.'
