Blue Dune is oceanfront and is nestled between large beautiful dunes that flow into natural surroundings of indigenous pines and cedars. You are now in a very private spot located furthest east on the coast then any other spot. This is world class for surfing, fishing and shell hunting.
Open the front door and listen to the waves crash. Watch the moon rise over the dunes and track your footprints over a private trail to the beach. Just your footprints and the deer. Enjoy oceanfront life on the most beautiful beach in the world!
Trace your trail back to a newly renovated boho style beach cottage. Find surfboard racks, outdoor deck, park grill, outdoor shower, fish cutting station, screened porch and roof top deck. Blue Dune is a newly renovated two bedroom cottage with open floor plan and fully equipped kitchen. Wireless internet, DirectTv and and sound system on property. This is the perfect cozy cottage for small families, fisherman and nature lovers.

The house properties need some work. Be careful of the Spanish bayonet that is right in the walkway. It’s not shown in the picture. It is not very appealing when you drive up at all. The porch has no seating on it except a dirty picnic table that is crammed up against the wall. There is nothing provided. Do bring soaps, towels, sheets, paper products. She had a ton of pots and pans. About 6 little plates. A bunch of cups and glassware! We could not get to the house for the first night due to a storm and an accident that closed the Basnight Bridge. The ferry’s were shut down. The host was not accommodating and not very empathetic. I would suggest buying the insurance. All of it.

The cutest beach bungalow! Perfect for our trip, two adults and two teens who go to the beach to fish and swim. Perfect fishing spot and beach wasn’t crowded. Located in proximity to anything you might need. Would stay here again.

Great cozy cottage! Perfect for small families. Short walk to the beach over the dunes. Very peaceful and quiet area, not at all touristy or commercial. The only thing that should change about the listing is that it says there is a washer but there is none. I came prepared with detergent but there was no washer. Overall amazing stay and way more affordable than the surrounding homes.

Honeymoon Getaway

Our stay here was very nice. We messaged a question about the AC the night we arrived and they had someone come over that night to address it, and we had no other problems throughout the week. The place was the perfect size for my wife and I, and would be good for a small family. The location is very nice because you are just a short walk over a dune from the beach, and the area is not very crowded or touristy. We enjoyed time on the beach, checking out local shops and restaurants, and looking for crabs at night (there were tons!). We definitely recommend this spot for a quiet getaway!

The house is okay. The stairs need additional railings. Stairs to the top deck are especially steep and narrow. Almost no view of the ocean, even from the top. The Central Air was broken while we were there. The owner had installed window units in the bedrooms, but the living area was hot and stuffy. Outside furniture is limited and uncomfortable. Coffee drinkers should bring a larger pot. The house is best suited for a young couple with low expectations.

Nice house, right size for my wife and 1 year old. I would have liked a little more direction on check-out procedure. I was told there was a folder with information and it wasn't there. The AC had gone out before we got there, and while they put a mini window unit in each bedroom it wasn't strong enough to reach the living room. So, when we were there we stayed in the bedrooms except at night.

Wonderful location! Only a short walk to the beach through the dunes. Perfect location to travel to Nags Head or Avon/Buxon. We caught several sharks and a few puppy drum. Great stay with great hosts!

We were happy with the location. The age of the home shows (some bugs inside and AC issues). The owners attempted to be helpful but lack professionalism when addressing A/C issues. The breaker continued to trip throughout our stay; it seemed like an electrical hazard.

Blue Dune of Happiness

The Blue Dune is the perfect place to get away from the beach crowds, to the beauty of the pristine dunes and beach. With a private end of the street setting by the dunes, a short walk to the beach and waves, and a beautiful tree filled yard, this was a quiet nature filled getaway. All the amenities were excellent, especially the A/C, kitchen, and shower. It includes a rooftop porch for stargazing, a screened in porch for sitting and watching the birds, and a downstairs open sitting area that looks over the lush private back yard. The neighborhoods are perfect for bike riding, near to all the shopping you need, and did I mention the ice cream shop (we went every night)? We loved everything about this vacation and plan to stay at the Blue Dune again!

The house is in great location, short walk to the beach and very convenient to go to stores and restaurants. The house was clean when we checked in. We had 2 adults and 2 pre-teens but in my opinion, this house will be perfect for only 2 adults and a young kid, due to there was only one bathroom, however having outdoor shower makes line for shower manageable. Host Anna was very helpful for the questions we had. There were everything we need in the house except some stuffs and host had mentioned them when we booked, so we’re well prepared.

Quiet place with everything you need

The location is great! Only a short walk over the dunes and you are at the ocean. Since the location is farther down, the beaches were not crowded either. Anne was absolutely great! She gave fishing advice and also was timely with responding whenever needed. This is a great place that is tucked away and is truly a gem. The pictures do not do it justice! Highly recommend for a small group that is able to walk up over dunes.

Pretty nice for 2 to 4 people. We enjoyed the location although it was a brief walk from home to beach. Well worth the walk though. A few things to remember, bring your bedding, towels, and other petsonals with you. The house was pretty clean, we always try to leave it cleaner than we find it. Bed was very comfortable, seating was sufficient, although we did not do a lot of that. Anne, the host was very helpful with questions and suggestions. Very good value. Will return there in the future.

Great Time at the Beach

This is the quintessential beach house. Right on the beach (behind the dunes) very laid back place with all you need to relax, which is what we were going for after a hectic season of work and life. Decor is great, all appliances and AC worked well. Location on beach and in a small, quiet town is just great.

Be warned: Nothing included, but great location.

The best thing about this property is its proximity to the beach and it’s a good size for a small party. I had zero communication with the property owner prior to my arrival, so I was very surprised when nothing came with the property. By nothing, I mean the following: there was one roll of toilet paper and one trash bag. No bed linens, bath towels or hand towels, kitchen towels, dish soap etc. Because I received no communication from the property manager before I arrived, I was unable to bring anything with me. The property manager claimed that she e-mailed me instructions prior to my arrival, but could provide me no proof. There was no history of receiving this vital information in the VRBO app and no inclusion of these important details in the listing. The cabin wasn’t particularly clean (dead bugs on the floor and crumbs underneath the cutting board). I could not figure out how to turn on the lights in the bedrooms. I expected either basic supplies and/or communication ahead of time so I could have brought them from home. The property manager should edit their listing to include these details. Buying supplies in the Outer Banks is very expensive. If I had known that nothing was provided, I would not have rented this cabin.
