'We had a wonderful stay at the Volcano Forest Inn. The large room, access to the full kitchen/common area, the quiet location surrounded by the rainforest, and the private deck allowed us to enjoy a relaxing visit. The inn has a great location just outside the national park. We were able to stop at several places before they became busy. 'The accommodations were terrific, a great value in superb location for visiting Volcanoes National Park and Hilo area. Spacious, comfortable beds. Host was very accommodating by offering to deliver to-go breakfasts as we had an early morning flight. I recommend the Lanikai Brewing Co for dinner if you stay here- the best food we ate in Hawaii for adults and kids- also great beer and excellent cocktail lists with low-key come as you are feel (i.e. sweatpants).'

'A not so hidden gem with a rustic plantation ambiance. Lush surroundings, great parking, friendly staff, convenient to Volcano National Park. The 1/2 mile loop trail behind the property was a fun morning picker-upper to get the day started. It’s a little quirky that the guest check-in is in the gift shop, very laid back but service is wonderful. The restaurant is top notch and the portions are reasonable for the price.
