'Positive: Well maintained property and rooms, Beautiful gardens, truly wonderful staff. Clean beach.
Less positive: shore seaweed (but the staff puts a lot of effort to clean the beach every day), restaurants reservations are not always available.
Overall an excellent experience, recommended.'

'The room was clean, the swim up bar was nice, and overall the pools were well kept and clean. However, there were cockroaches in our swim up pool in our room and in the restaurants. The food was also subpar. We were only allowed to book 1 reservation throughout our entire stay, which was disappointing because the only other place to eat was the buffet at nighttime. The buffet was not great, there were cold cuts and dairy based sauces just out, not on ice. Would not recommend.'

'Very pretty property, Manny Mercedes was very helpful and professional.
The quality of the food could be improved; more healthier choices would be great.
Room was clean, staff was wonderful and the live entertainment was excellent,

'Not sure where the “5 star” resort claim is coming from given that it’s more of a 3 star-
1. Check in was horrendous (states 3 pm but rooms aren’t actually ready by then as stated by previous reviews)
2. Rooms are filthy and barely functional- my husband took his socks off when we got to the room the very first day and the bottom of his feet already turned black within only a few mins of being there; unfinished tile work in the bathroom, very poor craftsmanship, stains on sofa, drawers that...

'I recently stayed at Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana and had mixed feelings about my experience.
The resort itself was beautiful, and I generally enjoyed my vacation. The property was well-maintained, the atmosphere was relaxing, and many of the staff members I encountered during my stay were courteous and professional.
Unfortunately, my experience took a very negative turn after I returned home. Upon reviewing my bank account, I discovered charges from the resort that I did not understand...
