Below expectations
Unfortunately our stay was below expectations. I stayed in different Grand Hyatt hotels around the world, but this was not the service what I was used to. The hotel is very beautiful, breakfast was ok, not exceptional. Arif, chief concierge was the most helpful and friendly staff. That should be the standard for Grand Hyatt, but the staff of the front desk were not smart and slow. I had to call a couple of times before they did something with a request, this was very annoying, the staff should be trained properly, that would make this a great hotel.

Prachtig hotel, mooi zwembad en nette zeer grote kamers. Alleen extreem duur! Frisdrank voor 8 euro, ontbijt 20 pp(= 44 euro!!!). Normale Biefstuk hoofdgerecht 50 euro. Overdreven! Wij gaan altijd naar dure hotels, maar dit nog nooit meegemaakt.

My family and I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Muscat and it was a great experience! It was our first family trip after having our baby and the staff was AMAZING! Everyone was so kind and accommodating. The hotel is very charming and welcoming. You can tell that it is a bit older but not in a negative way. All facilities were clean and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family!

Some may complain that the property is dated but I love the vintage vibe. B'fast is nice and plentiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I find the toiletries rather low quality for 5* hotel and still in little containers. Thanks for having us.

This is listed as a 5 Star hotel but to be honest, maybe it was ten to fifteen years ago. The hotel is very dated and it's not exactly 'beach-fronted' as advertised! The beach is public, not looked after, and completely separate from the hotel. I arrived off an overnight flight and the first thing the reception staff asked me was if I was a Hyatt member. I told him no, he asked did I want to sign up…no, what I want is my bed and something to eat. He told me that my booking didn’t include breakfast which it did! when I told him this he said he couldn’t see it on the system and that I would have to pay. I was also told that the breakfast didn’t start until the following day even though I arrived at the hotel at 8am! They made no effort to use discretion or be flexible to a new guest, considering I’d just come off an overnight flight and the hotel was dead! The room was clean and fine – no issues there. One thing I would say however, is that they have only one plug socket (for international plugs) which is all the way on the other side of the room. So you cannot plug any devices in, such as your phone or laptop, by the bedside. The concierge tried their best but were not very knowledgeable regarding tours and trips. I ended up finding a tour agent in a coffee shop! The breakfast setting was outside with no view of anything as there was tarpaulin everywhere and the dining area was dated. The food very average. The hotel is located at a beach front. Easy acces to beach and 5 minutes walk to a small mall called Water Front. Grand Hyatt staff is professional and polite at all times. Rooms are clean and well maintained but the mattress and pillows are too soft. Need to change that. Other than that it was a fantastic family holiday!

This hotel was recommended to us by someone who has visited numerous times and really enjoyed their stays, so we booked here specially. It was an absolutely beautiful property, very conveniently located, had friendly staff (especially Mahmoud), was clean, accommodating, and safe/peaceful. We cannot wait to come again and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. We also really appreciated the traditional art work, antique doors/windows, and vibrant cultural influences all around the building. Staying here made our stay in Muscat that much more enjoyable. Old hotel but amazing staff
The hotel was quite old and could definitely need an upgrade, however the room was spacey, tidy and nice. But we were missing furnitures at the balcony, which would have been lovely to enjoy the warm evenings. The staff was very nice. Especially Mohammed and Saleema by the pool/gym. Most serviceminded and smiling people. The prices at the hotel are extreemly high compared to when you eat or drink outside. Thank God there is a delicious Turkish restaurant right next to the hotel, where prices are 1/3 of the prices from the hotel.

a few days before arriving at the hotel I had a stroke and was in hospital I informed the hotel about my medical condition but it turned out that the hotel staff had no conscience and no respect for their guests, I was denied the possibility of a refund and was not even allowed to change the booking date,thank you very much Khalifa from the front desk :(

C’est une très bel hôtel en bord de mer mais la rénovation n’est pas encore totalement terminée ! La piscine est très agréable, la promenade au bord de mer est elle aussi en finalisation de rénovation. Le restaurant italien est délicieux et surtout le personnel est absolument charmant !!!!

"Grand" indeed! Gorgeous marble and stone everywhere. Renovation work off to the side of the main reception desk should be over soon. The rest of the hotel was fine. My room was comfy, and the central pool area between wings of the hotel is sheltered and relaxing. (Try to get a room overlooking the CENTRAL garden, if possible. Mine looked at a dusty backside tennis court and utility area. There was sea beyond that, however.) As an alternative to the pricey breakfast buffet, the nearby French Bakery is one of the few off-site food venues. It has a variety of food besides coffee and pastries and is open till late. If one has a car, it's a fine location (Shati Al-Qurum). If one doesn't, getting around is all by taxi, and there are few services or dining options within easy walking distance in this diplomatic quarter. A relaxing, full-service get-away if a family just wants a self-contained vacation resort and is happy to pay more for in-hotel meals.

The hotel is a great place to rest, relax and enjoy the sunshine. The food is great and the staff very helpful, including helping organise day trips. The rooms are huge and comfortable. Its also right on the beach which is nice to get away from the hotel. Otherwise there isn't much around, you need to get taxis if you want to go anywhere.

The Grand Hyatt is a great place to stay in Muscat. While it is a distance from major roads, it is on the beach and has a nice pool. The staff, from Rakeesh running the breakfast buffet to the GM are committed to doing a great job for their guests. I'd stay here again.

A grand old Lady who is very run down in areas
The Grand Hyatt Muscat has the bones of a grand old Omani Treasure. The architecture and ambiance of the reception and atrium area are stunning and convey a rich charm. The rooms are very comfortable, however the hotel has become very run down in areas. Our toilet did not flush... so we had to use the public toilets in the atrium. The pool and outdoor area was in a terrible state. There were many mosaic tiles missing from the bottom of the pool creating a real hazard for toes. The tiles and finishing around the edges were all cracked and peeling and coming away. Fascia boards at the pool bar were all coming away and were in terrible disrepair and the pool bar was looking very tired like you would see in an abandoned hotel. It was quite a shambles. Certainly not something that I would expect from such a great brand as Hyatt. Suggest the Hyatt executive get down and take a look and allocate some budget to a smarten up. Aside from that, the reception and concierge service was great - very friendly and welcoming.

Nice hotel
Hotel was beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly. Shame the pool bar and restaurants were closed, but understand it was due to Ramadan. Breakfast was ok, could do with a little more selection as was more or less same everyday. Could also do with coving up the food. A lot of old people were coughing over it.

Ein schönes Luxushotel in direkter Strandlage
Sehr schönes Hotel in bester Strandlage. Sehr ruhig. Großzügige Zimmer mit schönem Bad (etwas in die Jahre gekommene Fugen). Wir hatten Zimmer mit Pool- und Meerblick (das ist natürlich die "Schokokladenseite"). Sher freundliches Personal. Tolles Frühstücksbuffet (allerdings auch mit ca. 30 Euro ziemlich teuer). Dinnermenue im Buffetrestaurant und im Marjan (indonesisch) gut aber auch nicht unbedingt preiswert. Tipp: ca. 20 Minuten an der Stradpromenade in Richtung Muscat einige Restaurants / Cafes mit gutem Preis- / Leistungsverhältnis (z.B.: Shrimpstation) - diese liegen in einem Laden- / Bürozentrum in direkter Strandlage.

Hyggelig opphold selv om hotellet bærer preg å være slitt! Lite gjester den uken vi var der som gjorde frokostopplevelsen god, bra utvalg og godt med sitteplasser ute. Vi hadde tilgang til hotellets lounge som var meget bra, godt utvalg av mat og drikke (med/uten alkohol fra kl. 1800 til 2000.
